How would you describe what you do to someone who knows nothing about Clif Bar or your role?
I visualize. I sketch. I conceptualize. I design. I present. I sense. I critique. I execute.
I inspire. I bring brands to life. I am a graphic designer.
What do you love most about working at Clif Bar?
The people!! My co-workers — they are fun and great to work with. I even hang out with them after work. They are practically my family.
What are your interests and passions outside of work?
Well, I like being around my friends and having a wonderful time. I love fashion, eating new and strange food (I will literally try anything), dancing and traveling. I enjoy going to festivals, Broadway shows and concerts.
What is one of your most memorable food experiences?
One of my most memorable food experiences comes once a year during Chinese New Year. My family gathers together to enjoy a Chinese banquet dinner. The first course, of eight, is the most dynamic and exciting. This is called, Yusheng (or Prosperity Toss), and it symbolizes “good luck” for the coming year. This tasty dish contains about ten ingredients that each carries their own special auspicious greeting with it (i.e., raw fish = abundance, pomelo = luck, white radish = internal youth, etc.). The plate is quite colorful with the beautifully arranged ingredients. It is tradition that the eldest member of the family leads everyone in the tossing of the ingredients into the air with chopsticks while loudly proclaiming auspicious wishes to signify the start of a prosperous new year - the higher you toss, the grander your fortunes!
What has been or will be your greatest adventure?
I am a dreamer, so my life journey is my greatest adventure. I love experiencing the beauty of different cultures. I have visited most of Southeast Asia, Australia, Canada, and the Bahamas. Europe will be my next adventure — exploring Italy, France, Hungary — looking forward to experiencing a colorful mosaic of hidden pathways, unexpected beauties, the opportunity to meet new people, taste new foods, and do something that I’ve never done before.
