Climb every mountain

For the past few months, Jenny and Molly have been training—a lot. They've been hiking up a storm, lifting in the gym, testing out their hiking boots, learning how to use an ice axe. Why? Well, they're getting psyched to climb Mt. Shasta—a 14,162 foot mountain that looms in the northern part of our lovely state of California. It's all part of the Breast Cancer Fund’s annual Climb Against the Odds. Together, Molly and Jenny have raised a combined total of 10,000 buckaroos that will go towards BCF and their goal of eliminating the environmental—and preventable—causes of breast cancer. A…

Bike to Work Day

Today is Bike to Work Day and we thought we’d take advantage of it. We set a slightly lofty goal—get 75 folks from the office commuting in on a bike (or carpooling, or walking). If you didn’t get a chance to bike to work today, here’s a virtual bike to work day series from my trip in this morning with Tara… We met up in the city. On our way to BART, we ran into Melissa and her crew. We weaved through downtown San Francisco. We ran into Lisa on the train. We popped out at the North Berkeley station…

We blew around for the afternoon (just check out…

Cow tippin’…well not really

Ah, a trip to the farm. If I could, I would live on a farm among the animals. And, if I could pick a farm, I'd probably pick the Straus Family Creamery on the Tomales Bay. Those cows have it good. The Clif Bar crew took a tour of the dairy farm earlier this week and got a look at the ins and outs of what makes their family-owned dairy farm churn (pun intended). We visited with the calves and hung out with the cows lounging in the sun who were taking time off from getting milked. They were so…

The Ghost of Joey Ramone

Oh Erik and his mind games...A ghost? Perhaps. Perhaps not. It was, after all, quite a blustery day down at Sea Otter. It's not every day your ragtag three piece blues/punk/funk outfit gets asked to jam on the top of the 2 Mile Challenge bus during the Clif Bar party at Sea Otter. And when you throw in the fact that Clif Founder/Owner Gary Erickson had offered to sit in on the trumpet during the gig, it was an offer we couldn't refuse. And, despite gale-force winds that forced us to play more like under the bus rather than on…
