A Thing Called NPE West

A whole bunch of us Clifsters just returned from Natural Products Expo West, an annual trade show in Anaheim, Calif., but certainly no Mickey Mouse gathering. It’s now the nation’s largest natural, organic and healthy products trade show (52,000 industry people). Best-selling author Michael Pollan was a keynote speaker. If I may be so bold, Clif Bar & Company had a cool booth—a backyard theme that invited visitors to mingle and taste our food. While it was tiring standing 10-plus hours a day to share our latest products with the industry, we had fun, too. We brought our 2 Mile…

From tons of hair…to none—all in the name of conquering kids’ cancer

The latest and final installment of Emily's St. Baldrick's adventure... What an amazing experience. Neither Michael nor I were prepared for the electricity surrounding the St.Baldrick’s event on Monday evening. We each came with an armful of Zbars thinking four boxes would be sufficient. Emily has only a few more hours left before she chops off all of her curls; and she's got a lot of them. Let the countdown begin... It’s here! Saint Baldrick’s Day! I’m sooooooooo excited. The fundraising efforts have been astonishingly successful. People were so incredibly giving and supportive that I reached my goal in 2 weeks! Then out of the blue, Michael (our Category Insights Manager) upped the ante by offering to shave his head as well if we doubled my goal. “I’m not exactly sure why, but there seems to be an abundance of people with a vested…

Lola the amazing ambassa"dog”

We are so lucky here at Clif, I swear. I guess I occasionally take for granted all of the programs and interests that CB&C fosters. Last week, however, I was quickly reminded when I brought in Emily Colwell and Lola the Ambassa“dog” for a volunteer orientation from the Berkeley Animal Shelter, located just a few blocks away from our office. The shelter does so much great work on a limited budget and Emily runs an awesome volunteer program. I’ve been trying to get Clif Bar people down there so that they can help out the animals and get their 2080…
