Roxie goes to NYC

We've got some down time in NYC for the next few days...although it really didn’t start out that way. We got corrected on our driving etiquette pretty fast. For one, you better get off the line before the light turns green or the honking starts. The horn is a necessity. Brakes not so much; but a horn and a middle finger will get you a long way. Don’t worry, we didn’t pull out the middle finger but the horn might be a different story—we’ve got to protect Roxie you know. So back to the story, parking a 20-foot long vehicle is…

Greetings from the road!

This is Derin and Andra Williams and we're the CLIF BAR crew that's touring with the band Guster for their Campus Consciousness Tour. It's a climate neutral tour made possible by BioDiesel, wind power and we're spreading the word about global warming, the Breast Cancer Fund, Safe Cosmetics and CLIF and LUNA bars! How sweet is that?!?  Sorry for not getting to you guys sooner, I guess you could say we've been a bit on the busy side-driving 500 miles a day, messenger bag sampling during the day, concert setup at night, 5 hours of sleep, doing it again the…

I'm also not above responding gutturally to subtle changes in my immediate…

Keep on Pedaling

Did I tell you what I did last November? I went on a "Sustainable Living Bicycle Tour." I tagged along with some folks to bike around to schools and teach kids about sustainable living. Who are these people? What did we do? Where did we go? I am glad that you asked! The group consisted of nine people who work on Catalina Island for a program called Catalina Environmental Leadership Program (http://www.celp.net). Schools and other groups of kids come to the island to learn about nature and environmental topics. Since the camp season was over, these folks decided to plan…

Berkeley Juggling & Unicycle Festival

Two weekends ago, was the 1st Berkeley Juggling & Unicycle Festival! My friends and I (who are all jugglers) collectively decided that the Bay Area needs to have it’s own festival. I had never tried to organize anything like this before - boy, is it a lot of work! We met weekly for 6 months to put this thing together. Finally, the weekend was here, the doors to King Middle School opened (for us) and the people poured in! What a great feeling - to look around and see nearly 300 people having a fun time. It truly felt like…
