LUNA, LUNA on the wall…

LUNA's gone organic! How cool is that? We're very excited, but all those differing labels, logos and certifications can make it quite challenging to choose the right food for your body. A girl could go bonkers trying to figure out what it all means. That's why I was so happy to stumble across this list from the Organic Consumers Association (OCA). In light of LUNA going organic, take a moment to educate yourself about the label mayhem that awaits you at the supermarket and be better informed when making your food choices. P.S. LUNA contains 70% USDA Certified Organic ingredients.…

Let’s get ready to rumble!

Are you ready to eat a lot? Are you learning more about where your food comes from everyday? Maybe trying a new recipe? Perhaps visiting new friends and family that you've never met before. Now's the time to spread word about how we can as individuals help change the food system for the better. Try to incorporate one organic dish into your Thanksgiving meal. Even better, buy ingredients or a main dish that's traveled no more than 150 miles. Mind boggling isn't it.... Each of us has to make a small change that will most definitely make a big impact.…

It was the 19th annual harvest celebration of sustainable agriculture and rural living in the nearby Capay Valley. The organic veggie box we get delvered to the office comes from River Dog Farm, another Yolo County farm just 6 miles down the road. A horse-drawn wagon shuttled me and Thao in from the parking area. Amy, Cassie and a small Clif Bar crew volunteered at the ice cream booth. I…

Sex and Cloning = same result? American Dietetic Association Thinks So

The American Dietetic Association (ADA) released their position on biotechnology this year. Like a defense lawyer with the plaintiff on the stand, they brought the hammer down. By the power vested in the ADA, they hear by declared biotechnology safe, and asked that dietitians everywhere follow the dictatorship doctrine and spread the news like wild fire. Yikes! Hold up! Safe? Genetic engineering has only been tested on rats. Fewer pesticides sprayed? Hardly, since sales of one of the most toxic pesticides out there have increased for soy bean application. Potential to lessen nutrient deficiencies? How, when it destroys nutrient diversity,…
