- Garmin-Slipstream and BMC tackle the cobbles of Roubaix
For a fan of cycling’s spring classics, things simply do not get any better than this week. In a span of 9 days, pro cycling enthusiasts are treated to three of the most exciting races that Europe has to offer, complete with cobbles, crashes and weather that only the Flemish can truly appreciate. After last week’s Tour of Flanders and Wednesday’s Ghent–Wevelgem, the racing reaches its high point this Sunday, with the “Queen of the Classics”: Paris-Roubaix. Three U.S-based teams are making the start at this year’s edition of the fabled cobblestone classic and Clif Bar is proud to work with two of them: Garmin-Slipstream and the BMC pro team.
Garmin-Slipstream comes into the race confident after placing Dutch sensation Martijn Maaskant in 4th at Flanders and having Bradley Wiggins near the front all day at Ghent-Wevelgem. The BMC team, although competing in Roubaix for the first time, is expected to race in their trademark aggressive style and will look to put riders in any serious moves.
If you're tuning in to Versus this weekend to catch the action, be sure to look for the Garmin and BMC boys out there giving it their best.
Best of luck fellas!
