I love cooking; I love eating; I love spending time with family; I love the crispness in the air that always seems to come around the end of November here in California. I just love Thanksgiving and (most) everything associated with it, which made holding off on writing about our CLIF Bar pre-Thanksgiving celebration that we had last week pretty darn difficult. But I managed to wait until today so it could be a bit more timely (so I'll give myself a little pat on the back).
Last Thursday, though it was a week early, Gary and Kit threw a Thanksgiving feast for the Berkeley Office. We all gathered in the warehouse, with heating lamps blasting and music blaring, to chow down on some brussel sprouts, yams, mashed potatoes, rolls, glazed carrots, lamb and two turkeys that Gary and Kit raised on their farm. And a Thanksgiving celebration is even more of a Thanksgiving when you have pies galore—pecan, sweet potato, apple, pumpkin (my personal favorite). Oh and a few cookies helped with the sweet factor too.
An hour or so after we scraped our left-overs into the compost bin and shuffled back to our desks, most of us finally came off of our sugar high and got hit with a major fix of tryptophan. Nonetheless, we managed to finish plugging away at our desks and head home with a full belly from the festivities and a total appreciation for all that we have here at CB&Co.
From all of us at CLIF Bar, have a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving.
