- Hairs to the Holidays
Are you there, God? It's me, Margaret.Today was a funny day, God. For starters, I grew a beard! I know what you're saying... think about asking mom to buy some hormone free milk. Yeah, I'll do that.
Anyhow, at first I was surprised, then sad, then ashamed, then nervous about telling anybody. I was sure I wouldn't fit in, but by the time I got to Clif Bar, and saw all the other people with beards—both men and women—well, I just started to laugh. I knew then it was all going to be alright.
You read right.
Remember a blog or two back where I mentioned the beard-growing gauntlet having been thrown down? Well, much to the chagrin of the men and the entertainment of all, the women were listening!
Beyond the great display of three-week facial foliage we got from the men, the women decided to put on a little show of their own. Just after giving the awards out to the menfolk, the lights dimmed, the music blasted and a parade of about 12-15 long-bearded ladies paraded out to center stage—a total surprise to us to say the least.
Some long, some shorter and, yes, even some glued under the arms—it was amazing and somewhat "hairying" display (couldn't resist). So much laughter. And in a strange way, just another day here at Clif Bar. Love it.
Congrats to our "off-facial" winners -
