It's on!
Today, 24 of the greatest big wave surfers are going to come face-to-face and attempt to ride some of the most dangerous waves in the world. The contest is called with 24-hour notice, anytime between January 1 and March 31, 2006.
The Mavericks Surf Contest is happening. And, not surprisingly, there are a lot of empty desks here at the office and the biodiesel van is missing.
Behind me, in pod1, Ricardo and Paul are absent. Next door, Jeff looks lonely as five empty seats surround him, usually occupied by Bryan, Chris, Grady, Lizzy and Elayna. It's even reached over to Operations, as Ted's out, too.
We're a sponsor, so I bet someone's going to get out on the media boat to see the 40-foot waves up close and personal. I hope they bring back some great photos.
