EMERYVILLE, Calif., September 20, 2011 – CLIF BAR’s wildly popular seasonal flavors are back with a sentimental addition. Peppermint Stick joins Spiced Pumpkin Pie and Iced Gingerbread in bringing a distinctive winter spirit to the best-selling energy bar.

The cool tingle of a classic Peppermint Stick rounds out the warm, fresh-baked taste of Spiced Pumpkin Pie and Iced Gingerbread, while still delivering CLIF’s athlete-crafted blend of carbohydrates, protein and fiber for sustained energy. All three seasonal flavors are made with organic ingredients and available nationwide now while supplies last (SRP: $1.39).

In the spirit of the season, CLIF BAR will donate 1 percent of net sales from the holiday-inspired flavors to Winter Wildlands Alliance, the first and only national organization that works on behalf of skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers, winter hikers and other outdoor adventurers to address national issues that impact our winter wildlands.

“Like the first winter hike or that first morning run on fresh powder, the arrival of CLIF BAR’s seasonal flavors is something CLIF fans tell us they look forward to all year,” said Carly Lutz, CLIF BAR brand director. “It’s great knowing that we’re providing people with sound nutrition and sustained energy in nostalgic flavors, while contributing to protecting the places they play through our partnership with Winter Wildlands Alliance.”

The three limited-edition CLIF BARs join 16 year-round flavors, all made with organic, wholesome ingredients you can see and taste, such as fruit, nuts and oats. CLIF BARs also serve as a good source of protein and fiber, which help the body digest carbohydrates slowly to deliver sustained energy. What’s more, CLIF BARs don’t contain trans fats, hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup and artificial flavors, sweeteners and preservatives.

CLIF BAR is the market’s best-selling energy bar in grocery and natural food stores, according to The Nielsen Company and SPINS.
