TCB Cycling and the Start of the ‘07 Season
Along with the start of the New Year comes the start of the new bike racing season.  Ahh...  just in time. Weekends were getting sorta dull without a good bike race in the mix.

Here at Team Clif Bar, we're pretty excited about the new racing season. For '07, we've put together a relatively small but mighty squad of 14 riders who are also great ambassadors for the sport of cycling. We'll have riders competing in a number of categories, running the gamut from the Cat 3 to Masters to Pro/1/2 events. And the team is committed to doing its part to reduce the squad's ecological footprint as well. We'll be working with Native Energy to offset roughly 100,000 miles travel-generated CO2 which should be more than enough to cover all of our race-related mileage. And in addition to the offsets we'll be using a bio-diesel truck as our primary team vehicle.

And here's some more cool team news:

For the first time ever the Team Clif Bar cycling kit will be for sale on The same kit sported by TCB Cyclocross riders Mark & Jesse and worn by the NorCal-based TCB Cycling squad is now for sale and 15% of the proceeds support the Start Global Cooling program as donations to Native Energy's Windbuilders alternative energy program.

Lots of good team stuff going on in '07, and we haven't even started talking about the bike racing yet!

Let's face it, bike racing is pretty damn rad—and I could talk about it all day. But there wouldn't be much to talk about without the support of the team sponsors. At Team Clif Bar, we're both very stoked and very fortunate to have a terrific group of team sponsors:

TeamOrbea1_100dpiClif Bar & Clif Shot, Orbea, Soule, Giro, Voler Team Apparel, Fi’zi:k Saddles, Speedplay, Fast Freddie Coffee, Mavic, Rudy Project, Body Mobilization, Mountain Hardwear, Bank of America, Maxxis, Shimano, Pedro’s USA, Thule.
Thanks to all of the team's sponsors for the enthusiastic support!

And lastly, a little bit about bike racing:

The season officially began for us yesterday at the first Early Bird Criterium in Fremont, CA. First and foremost the Early Bird races are about teaching new racers useful skills and sharing with them some tips and perspectives about the wonder that is bike racing. The weather was beautiful and the turnout was great. We spent most of the day working with new riders then ended things with an hour of bike racing that went pretty well for the TCB riders. From morning until afternoon, it was a fine day full of bike racing.

As we begin the '07 season the team's on track to achieve its goals:

  • Support new-rider development

  • Reduce our ecological footprint

  • Be the best ambassadors we can be for our sponsors and for the sport of cycling

  • Race our little hearts out
