Team CLIF Bar Weekend Results Round Up
Wow, what a weekend for Team CLIF.  Four of us desk jockeys who work to keep our athletes fueled traveled to the Sierras for the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run.  We got to chat with our athletes and some of ultra running's best known names at a dinner co-hosted by our friends at Montrail the night before.  We also attempted to make the smokiest camp fire ever and enjoyed some time sleeping outside.

We trekked out past the first main aide station on a cold and wet morning to cheer the runners on from the course.  It must have been really encouraging as the team had lots of great results!

Ellie Greenwood set a new female course record on her way to the win.

Ian Sharman claimed 5th place in a stacked and fast men’s field.

Neal Gorman grabbed a solid 10th place.

Amy Sproston nabbed 7th place in the women’s field.

Team CLIF continued to rack up great placing at Ironman Triathlons around the world.  Chris McCormack grabbed the win at Ironman 70.3 Japan and punched his ticket to Kona.

Andre Kajlich also secured his spot at Kona by taking the win at the Ironman 70.3 Handcycle Championship in Lubbock, TX.

At Ironman Coeur d’Alene, Meredith Kessler claimed victory in the women’s race, while Timothy O’Donnell grabbed second spot in the men’s field.  Team CLIF athlete Bryan Rhodes was a solid 8th place.

New CLIF athlete Alessandra Battig put in a solid performance to win her age group – all while still in school.  Nice.

The great finishes kept rolling in on the cycling side too.  Carmen Small of Team Optum claimed 3rd place in the US Road Racing Championship.  Robert Bush of Chipotle/First Solar Development won the Under 23 US Road Championship.

In the Canadian National Road Championships, Marsh Copper of Optum claimed third place in the Elite Men’s race.   Denise Ramsden of Optum won the women’s race to claim both the Elite and U23 title!

Team Exergy rider Logan Loader won a competitive criterium local to Clif HQ in Burlingame, CA.

On the fat tire side of things, the latest round of the World Cup was held in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec, Canada.  Greg Minnaar of Santa Cruz Syndicate nabbed second place in the downhill race.  In the women’s cross country race, World Champion Catharine Pendrel of the Luna Pro Team surged ahead of her teammate, Georgia Gould to grab the top spot on the podium.  Georgia, cramping badly, held on for second while her Luna teammate, Katerina Nash was fourth.

After such a busy weekend, I am sure I missed someone – sorry!  A hearty chapeau! to you all! Yes, that is French and I am stoked for the Tour to start!
