CLIF Blog

Jul. 20, 2010
Win a Year’s Supply of CLIF BARs! (UPDATE: Winner Announced!)
UPDATE: Entries are officially closed! Thanks to everyone for the amazing response. We'll announce the winner this Monday, August 2.

UPDATE 2: The moment has come! Congratulations to nrogers -- our grand-prize winner -- for going above and beyond, creating a entire mock blog, post entries and more. Truly an awesome effort that deserves to be recognized.

And the runners up: Swisscheez, TisShannon, and Capecodbeer -- You'll each get something for you great submissions.

Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by and dropped their creative comment. This was an EXTREMELY difficult decision, as there were so many awesome entries. But at the end of the day, someone has to win!

So you wake up on any given weekday morning. You brew your coffee/tea, which you quickly pour into your travel mug, then reach into your bag for that trusty CLIF BAR. Uh oh. Fresh out!

You just hate it when that happens, we know. Well, we’re here to help. We want to load up one lucky Clif fan with a year's supply of bars, a lofty prize for any CLIF BAR lover.

But we don’t want to simply give hundreds of bars away at random. We want someone creative, active, funny and/or someone that’s just plain-old passionate about Clif products and the lifestyle Clif Bar & Company promotes. So we ask you this question.

What would you do with a year’s supply of CLIF BARs?

Entries will be judged based on their content by creativity and originality, and the winner will be contacted via email. All you have to do is leave a comment on this blog post (if you’re not already registered, you’ll want to do that first) and tell us what you’d do with a year’s supply of CLIF BARs. (Make sure you read the full contest rules here before submitting.)

If you want to make a video (YouTube, Facebook...) or share a pic (Flickr, Twitpic, Facebook...) that might help your cause, just include the link(s) in your comment. But that’s not a must. Just be yourself and we’ll take that into consideration.

Starting now, you’ll have until July 29, 2010 (11:59pm PT to be exact) to get your comment in. Only one comment per person will be counted, so make it good!

While there will only be one grand prize winner, we’ll choose our top five and give the runners up something to snack on. More chances to win!

Good luck!

(Because of international food shipping restrictions, you must have a valid US mailing address within the 50 States to qualify as a winner.)

I would eat them all.

By sallen67 on 07/20/2010

I would enjoy 365 days of Cliff Bar goodness.  Then I would donate the wrappers to TerraCycle.

By oohhjax on 07/20/2010

I would dress up as a cliff bar and approach complete strangers saying...” eat me, i’m the most amazing organic energy bar.”

By sarah in brooklyn on 07/20/2010

I would share them with the beginning runners who I coach, since one of the great rewards of running is getting to eat yummy things!

By mkelly1230 on 07/20/2010

I would enjoy them myself but also pass many along to friends and family to encourage them to live a healthier lifestyle. Swapping a candy bar for a Clif bar is the best thing you can do in my book!

By REDNOSE1503 on 07/20/2010

I would bring them to Afghanistan and share them with my fellow Marines . .

By speedin on 07/20/2010

I would continue to eat them for breakfast and snacks (I currently have to LIMIT myself to TWO a day). I would take them to the gym with me, and if someone wasnt familiar with the Clif bar goodness, I would share one with them.

By healthchangemom on 07/20/2010

I would share them with my children as to help them stay on a good course for healthy eating and also share them with friends overseas too!

By Lauren on 07/20/2010

i could marry every single person who works for clifbar and use my winnings to cater the wedding(s)

By mrmueller on 07/20/2010

I often wonder if I love riding my bike and Clif bars are a great/yummy way to fuel my addiction or if I am addicted to Clif bars so I ride my bike as a non-guilty excuse to eat them.  Regardless, I’ll eat them year round to keep my energy levels high.

By David on 07/20/2010

I would share the bars with all my friends. Its nice to turn people on to healthy food.

By evanfmff on 07/20/2010

If I had a year of clif
I would eat them in a jif.
Each day I run, through rain or shine
And if a year of clif were mine
I’d gobble them up to fuel me well
Knowing that I’d run swell.
Most of all, I love each flavor.
So much to choose; so much to savor.
My favorite is Carrot Cake because
It takes the cake. It really does!
So that is why I’d like to win.
I’ll sit and wait, and at the drop of a pin
I’d jump with joy if you chose me
To fuel with clif--delicious and healthy.

By plittamus on 07/20/2010

Assuming I got various flavors, I would stick them to my wall to create a mural of a man running (or several runners) using the different colors of wrapping. And then I would slowly - day by day - enjoy part of my creation for a year. Don’t worry I’ll take pictures.

By HFBarnes on 07/20/2010

I’d send most to my son, he’s going back to Iraq, he loved the cookies and cream; I think it was. When he was there the first time and I asked him what to send, Clif Bars was on the top of the list. We used to go hiking near Springer Mountain, I would load up with Clif Bars so he’d chow down while walking. Great memories.

By akearney1936 on 07/20/2010

I would build a house out of all the Cliff bars and eat my way out of it until I got to my car made out of Clif bars and drive off into the sunset.

I would then make my way to a beach in my clif bar car and eat the car while I watched the sunset.

By tfurlong on 07/20/2010

I would bicycle across the country bringing nothing with me except my bicycle (and helmet of course) and the supply of clif bars.  I would rely on peoples willingness to barter for a delicious clif bar for the other items I may need.  These items could include shelter for the night, replacement tubes/tires, energy drinks, a hug to boost my morale, or possibly a trip down a slip and slide for those really hot days.

By cdirmann on 07/20/2010

I’d distribute them to the fine residents of FL and NY who love all things Clif, but can’t enter the contest due to stupid laws prohibiting such entries!

By Capecodbeer on 07/20/2010

My husband and I own a small brewery on cape cod.  We have always big huge fans of cliff bars..mostly because of how they taste...a couple years ago I read a book called small giants..focusing on businesses the choose to be great instead of big...i bought it for the story about anchor brewing, but fell in love with your company.  I then bought raising the bar and learned more about your company, it’s history and philosophy.  We’ve adopted many of these same principals and attitudes about our own business.

If I won a years worth of clif bars I would share them with the brew crew..our production staff ..who works hard and burns a lot of energy.  I would also share them with our LAST GASP cycling team..who is riding in a 62 mile ride from one end of cape cod to the other in september We hope to raise between 10 and 20 k..we raised 8 k last year so we’re trying to step it up.  All the money goes to 6 local charities.

Thanks for doing what you do..making a great tasting product.AND inspiring other businesses , large and small to do great things for their customers, employees, environment and communities.  Cheers, Beth Marcus, Cape Cod Beer

By ArizonaCutiePie on 07/20/2010

My favorites are the mini varieties--I love them all! Since I’m going to college in the fall, they would become my go-to snack for between classes, since I’ll always be on-the-go. But I wouldn’t just eat them myself--I’d share them with my roommate, friends, classmates, teachers and of course, my family, My dad’s tried them and he loves them, so I’d definitely have to split some with him.

By Bosrunner on 07/20/2010

As the parent of a 4 year old with another baby on the way, my wife and I struggle to eat and get out the door for our 4:30am training runs and rides. A year of Clif would get us out the door and on the road faster, both in the morning and for the run home from the office at the end of the day. Clif = well-fed, marathoning parents!

By nburt7 on 07/20/2010

Although I would love nothing more than to hoard the CLIF goodness for myself, I would donate the bars to my local Mt Bike club (YAMBA) for the trail work days . . . this would give the volunteers a much needed organic energy boost to further better the trail system and preserve the future of Mt Biking in PA!

By kamino185 on 07/20/2010

I think I would have to hold Clif Bar tasting parties! Get everyone in on the amazing taste of CLIF with sample plates of all the flavors! And yes, my problems of what to eat throughout the day (especially on the move) would be solved. Couldn’t ask for anything better!

By chops on 07/20/2010

I would give Clif bars to friends and co-workers as a healthy replacement for empty calorie, low protein, refined sugar candy bars! smile

By shelleyoreo on 07/20/2010

I’d eat them while I’m hiking
I’d eat them while at work
I’d even share them with my friends,
except my boss, “the Jerk”

I’d munch after riding horses
and my mountain bike named Ava
All the Clif Bars do I love,
no matter what the flayva.

I’d scarf them before yoga
After running in the park
Devour some after climbing
with my friend Mark.

Yum yum.
Thank you and have a nice day.

By Alicia on 07/20/2010

I would take them with me on every mountain bike ride and share them with riders who look like they need a great pick me up snack.  I would also share this treat with other outdoor enthusiasts that I may happen along.  A great way to bring smiles, meet new people and share some love..........free clif bars for all I meet!!

By lolamichele on 07/20/2010

I am a part of a group of men and women who have decided to better themselves by eating better and exercising.  we aren’t all running marathons, but we are doing what we can and holding each other accountable for taking care of ourselves.  A couple of the guys have started bicycling with their kids, while several others are swimming laps together at the local pool or walking round the neighborhood in the evenings.  So many gyms and health clubs have wonderful perks like this, but I think it would be a fantastic reward for our group to get these and be able to share them after jogs, rides, or just a game of whiffle ball with the kids.  Please consider us for the prize.  I can’t tell you how much we would appreciate it.  smile

By ssvincenti on 07/20/2010

I would replace the cookies and chips that my students’ parents usually send in for our kindergarten snack with Clif kid Zbars and have the smartest, most alert and attentive students in the school!  As a bonus, I wouldn’t have to hear the cries of, “Not chips again!”

By cyclox on 07/20/2010

I would build a clifbar house.

By ricv on 07/20/2010

I started a weight loss program using the differnt Clif bar products.  I eat a bar, or MOJO bar first tihng in the morinng and about every 3 hours.. keeps me pretty full, and allows me to have a small dinner.  the 100 calorie bars come in handy when an after dinner snack is needed… so that said, a free year of Clif bars would certainly help out in this.. so far i’ve lost 15 lbs in about 8 weeks.  Still have about 45 lbs to go.

By dhz3276 on 07/20/2010

I would build a catapult out of clif bars so I could shoot clif minis and shot roks to friends and family

By jdemart1 on 07/20/2010

I have loved CLIF bars for years now, and have discussed that love on my blog, Exercise and Eat (http://exerciseandeat.blogspot.com/2010/04/ode-to-clif.html). If I won a year’s supply of Clif Bars, I would feel like the luckiest person on the planet and would be sure to share those feelings with the online healthy living community.

By alana on 07/20/2010

I would tell the world that Cliff Bars help keep your body healthy and that leads to a healthy mind which stave’s off Alzheimer’s. All this while climbing the 7 Summits as part of my Memories are Everything: The 7 Summits for Alzheimer’s where I am raising $1M for Alzheimer’s research.

By BldrBill on 07/20/2010

I would begin by taking the “old man” on a cross country bike ride, before he gets too old to do this, powered primarily by Clif Bars! Then I would continue to ride my bike to work, the store etc. as often as possible while consuming my Clif Bars! Live clean, live green!!!

By Iwannapony on 07/20/2010

Ok, I admit it, I got hooked into a nice warm sugary donut or two in the morning before work.  I thoughtfully supplemented them with a wonderfully cheesey lasagna from the new place next to work.  The cooler weather of winter must have shrunk my pants.  That was my story and I’m sticking to it.
Then came the reality that I had been carrying a little more of me than I ever remembered.  Ok, ok… alot more.
I am proud to say that after a year, the weight of 40 jars of mayo is gone and hasn’t returned.
Clif Bars, Roks keep me full and ready to go on bike rides, hikes and are my first go-to for a mid morning snack.  Clif is real food.  I love ‘em.

By TisShannon on 07/20/2010

My name is Shannon.  Three years ago, I was asked a simple question by a co-worker and friend.. He asked if I loved myself.  Because he loved me, and this team of brokers loved me.  Did I love myself…

Then I weighed 525 pounds. From that moment forward I stopped living my life to die, and living my life to live.  In order to do that. I started setting goals for myself. First it was walking in a pool, as I couldn’t walk more then 100 yards… Then it was walking in the park.. Then I did something.. I signed up to walk the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3day 60 mile walk.  YES me!!! I completed my first Susan G. Komen 3day last year.  I finished weighing 425 pounds.  This year, I am down 245 pounds, and I still have a long journey to go.

Along the way I have learned about nutrition, and the importance of eating the right things for my work outs.  I have learned about the importance of the right complex carbohydrates and protein mix.  The Clif bars have been a BIG help to my diet and my work out regime.  I work out 3 times a week for an hour a the gym.  A Clif bar before for energy to get me through.  On the weekends I do +10s.  Which are more then 10 mile walks. This past weekend I did 18 miles on Saturday and 15 on Sunday.  Clif bars get me through these walks. It gives me the essential energy that i need to get through.

The only thing I have cheated on my new life style for...... Is an occasional oatmeal chocolate chip cookie.  On top of your incredible clif bars.. I now have a chocolate chip granola bar that has helped me leave my cookie cheat behind.

Now--What would I do with the Clif Bars??? I did mention that I walk 60 miles in 3 days.. Along with some of the most incredible people I have ever met. Also raising money to find an end to breast cancer.  I’d love to share the bounty with them!!!!

Regardless of winning or losing, *I* love love the oatmeal raisin and the chocolate chip!!!  Thanks for being an important part of my journey! !

By Marathon_Maniac on 07/20/2010

I would try not to bankrupt Clif with my habit, but those bars are so darn tasty. They are great for post training runs and I run a lot to train for marathons and ultras! So far this year, 6 marathons & 3 ultras with 3 more ultras and 2 marathons to go. Unless I add more to the schedule....

By riannaontheroad on 07/20/2010

If I had a year’s supply of Clif bars I would eat them in a month—with the help of the other members of my expedition team when we return to Patagonia next year for Expedition Explorers IV to visit more remote glaciers of the Northern Patagonian Ice Field.

We used Clif Builder Bars as a staple in our rations for three previous expeditions. Clif Bars are definitely a tasty snack at the office. They are even tastier after a long run, bike, or swim. On a month-long expedition in the Patagonian wilderness, they are delicious beyond description and a source of energy and calories that can make a difference that can be marked in kilometers hiked or paddled. There was more than one night that I lay in my tent with my stomach rumbling after a hard day and an inadequate dinner of dehydrated stroganoff or turkey tettrazini that I actually calculated the hours before I would get to tear into another Clif Bar. And when I say tear, I mean tear in the way that a puma (or my laborador) would go about delicately opening a side of bacon wrapped in foil. If you send us a year’s supply of Clif Bars I can guarantee that no crumbs will go uneaten and that we will lick the packages clean.

See pictures of us (some of them with Clif Bars in our bellies) on a previous expedition at http://www.antofaya.com/explorers2/

By idahobrahm on 07/20/2010

I would eat them, as I have been for the last 6 months, as part of my balanced, new eating plan!  I’ve incorporated the mini’s, the ZBars, and the regular size Clif bars into my low-cal daily program, and I’ve so far lost 74 lbs!
With a year’s supply, I could share them with my friends and family, and show them that good taste can be so good for you!  Having them in the house has already helped my 14 year old son to trim down.  He’ll have a 130 calorie Honey Graham ZBar instead of a bowl of cereal!
In my weight-loss blog, I’ve mentioned Clif bars many times, and my followers ask about them.  Amazing how many people have never heard of you!  The more bars I have, the more I’m able to share and spread the word!
Thanks!  Would love to be your poster child!  grin

Sincerely, Mary

I would enjoy them as part of a nutritious and tasty dietary plan… and share them with my friends.  I enjoy your Clif Builders bars several times weekly; they taste great; have a terrific texture crunch, and are healthy for me.  They give me a boot before my workouts at the gym when I am not able to mix up a protein shake.

And to be honest, because they are sold at Whole Foods, I have confidence that they are healthy for me.  (Yes, I can read the labels… but knowing that Whole Foods sells your products, I’m sold.

By ganesharia on 07/20/2010

I’d put them in my purse a few at a time and offer them to the panhandlers that ask for food and money. Replacing everyone’s frustration with nutrition has to be a step in the right direction.

By will-lepage on 07/21/2010

I walk through downtown Tulsa and distribute the CLIFS to homeless people for their breakfast. I would recruit others to help me hand out the year’s supply, including Sister BJ and her breakfast bags <http://www.srbjpantry.com>. The CLIF BAR is an excellent food for homeless people because it is sealed in a wrapper to avoid contamination; tastes delicious; provides plenty of energy and nutrition in a small package; and can be easily distributed by volunteers.

By sue22655 on 07/21/2010

I would spread the good cheer to friends and acquaintances (and even to hungry clients) so that they will be full of all that Clif Bar yumminess.

By jwoltman2 on 07/21/2010

A mini Clif Bar gets me started every morning on the way to my 5:30AM workout.

By Cyclehawk on 07/21/2010

I’m a Bike Messenger in NYC and I do ride my bike everyday with average of 40 miles per day and my job is on demand so I have keep moving constantly with no time for stop to sit and eat something so I have to grab one of my favorite bars, I do prefer Cliff Bars for the taste and cost, also I’m a co-owner of Cyclehawk Messengers Inc. and I will love to have a year supplement of this amazing bars not just for me but I will love to share with my workers because they are amazing riders and work as hard as a do.

By andrea on 07/21/2010

Winning a year supply of clif bars would be a great way to start off my new journey in life as a college student. These bars are just what a busy student needs, great tasting, convient and good for you! But whats even greater about these bars are the sense of community they can bring. I know the people who make these delicous bars care about the product and each other and perhapse by sharing some with new friends, I too can create this sense of community.

By icedinogirl on 07/21/2010

I would enjoy every last bit of them! My husband and I love Clif bars. We often have them for breakfast or an easy on-the-go snack when we’re out hiking or cycling. I recently learned about Clif Shot Roks and I can’t wait to try them!

By everardo on 07/21/2010

Gives me a great idea as a photographer, I’d give each one away and photograph/document how everyone loves their Clif bars!! smile

By CLIF Bar Fan on 07/21/2010

this isn’t gonna be creative… more about right & wrong/deserving, so i probably won’t win, but that’s okay. I’ve recently started purchasing & of course eating your delicious CLIF Builder bars (chocolate & peanut butter) from amazon.com. I’ve bought about 10 boxes so far & of course will not stop doing so. I feel you should have some kind of buy such & such amount of boxes & get 1 or 2 boxes FREE via proof of purchase or something. CLIF Bar ROCKS !!!

By casablancadon on 07/21/2010

As an on-the-go elementary school teacher working in the city of Chicago, I would use my year’s supply of CLIF bars as the breakfast the gives me the energy to keep on going and do the best I can for our nation’s future!

By wellness101 on 07/21/2010

We expect 1000+ people at the My First 5k event in January 2011. Share, share, share, that’s my motto. I’d love to see all the new runners and walkers enjoying a ClifBar!

By bytesizekelly on 07/21/2010

Haiku:
Win a year of Clif
And eat everything inside
With the rest- a dress

The extended version: If I were anything more than a cycling, blogging, Cif Bar munching photography addict, I would probably be able to come up with something more created- however, If I were to win a years worth of Clif Bars I would bring half the bars with me on my cycling tour of Europe and save the wrappers of the other half. I would use the wrappers to create fashionable clothing for recycling concept photoshoots.

By consciousinsane on 07/21/2010

I had thought about thinking of something creative, that would stand out, but then I realized, the bars would be better off if given to some purpose, so I propose that if I were chosen, I would pass my winnings onto Eric Larsen, Polar Explorer extraordinaire.

Eric Larsen has traveled to the ends of the Earth to raise awareness that we need to combat Global warming to save our poles, and save life as we know it.  I know he takes Cliff bars on his journeys and while I love Cliff bars, I think he could appreciate them better and bring about some good from it.

Support Eric Larsen in his campaign for Save the Poles.!

By ryanm on 07/21/2010

I’d feed struggling Emeryville entrepreneurs, myself included, and have an excuse to lead more morning group runs/training.

By tk1211 on 07/21/2010

I would breed them and let them make Clif minis. Those would grow to be Clif bars and repeat the cycle of life. I would never be out of supply again. Problem solved.

By BUTTERCUP on 07/21/2010

I work at a Taconite plant and would eat them while sampling trains.

By Romi on 07/21/2010

If I won the contest I would donate all the bars to http:/www.ampsurf.org
We teach adaptive surfing to people of all ages with disabilities. We have “learn to surf” clinics every month and the ClifBars would come in mighty handy on cold mornings when we are out in the 50 degree water for hours trying to drum up as much healthy energy as possible. Sometimes you just need that extra boost to get you up and riding the waves. ClifBars are a healthy and nutritious way to get up and get going. Our participants come from all over the country to learn to surf for free. There is nothing I would love more than to treat them and our volunteers to the very best energy bar made! Because they deserve it and would truly appreciate every tasty morsel! Love you ClifBar...share the stoke!

By madre2three on 07/22/2010

If I won a year supply of Clif Bars I would give them to my oldest Daughter who is in college and LOVES them!Every time she comes home she has them and it would help her out by saving her some money!!
It would also give her mom some brownie points and we all know how much that means to us mom’s!! wink

Thank you for the chance!

By Melody on 07/22/2010

As an active mother of 3, a healthy diet at begins at home.  In my families sports/activities I would promote the Clif bars by grabbing and pitching them from sunup to sundown.  I’d grab mine in the morning at 4am heading out to work and after that grab a case of Clif bars.  I’d pitch them to one daughter on her way out the door to varsity Pom squad practice, pitch them during their High School pep rallies as I’m on the booster team, pitch them to the crowd during the games and then grab some more.  Then pitch them to the other daughter on her way to art clubs to share, grab some more and pitch them to my oldest daughter attending college, but that’s only part of the day for me.
Then grab more and pitch them out at community events I’m involved with such as the ball games, car washes, motorcycle ride fundraisers, area business promotions, music and band events such as
http://www.victimstovictorymusicfest.com.  Grab some more Clif bars to pitch out at area youth baseball parks, one which has 17 fields and have the honorary game starter even pitch one himself!  I wonder at the end of the day if there will be any Clif bars left for me, but at least I got mine in the morning first.  smile

By Swisscheez on 07/22/2010

For your consideration:

I would re-edit the amazing Woody Harrelson/Demi Moore movie Indecent Proposal and replace all the dollar bills with Clif Bars.

The film opens on the interior of a run down motel room, our leading couple tired and downtrodden, recently evicted after months of missed rent payments and utility bills piling up. After exhausting their meager supply of energy gels to satiate their ever growing hunger, they are forced to turn to Taco Bell hot sauce packets.

Cut to the smoldering antagonist. He has it all: power, money, good hair, and great teeth. At first glance he’s indestructible, but deep inside he harbors a hurtful resentment from the woman in his past who left him for his best friend, an adventure racer. Protected by his wall of money and influence, he keeps any true heartfelt romance at bay.

One sunny afternoon, we see our down on their luck couple scavenging for trial sized morsels of Luna bars and sips of energy drinks when, between the racks of running shorts, the powerful playboy spies her from across the race expo floor. She is the modern day visage of his former flame. Making his way past the massage tables and vacation Disney marathon booths, he matter of factly walks up to the vagabond and firmly states “I’ll offer you a 1 year supply of Clif Bars to sleep with your wife.”

...that’s all I’ve got so far. Do you think Shia LeBeouf is available?

By Skymollie on 07/22/2010

I just discovered Clif bars at my local store. I was looking for something to round out my afternoons at work .  I must have spent 30 minutes looking over all the choices for energy bars. I knew I needed protein since within this last year I became a Vegetarian and I needed something to help me stay alert on the long drive home.  I’m interested in the quality of the ingredients and something that is low in sugars. I picked out the 100 calorie Clif bars since I would also like to keep my weight down. With these bars I feel no hunger pangs in the afternoon. I have lost five pounds in the last two weeks and when I go home I have the energy to bike in front of the television set for an hour. I am truly amazed at how much these little bars are doing for me!
If I won a years supply of Clif bars I would stash them in my freezer and eat one per day. Maybe I would share with the family. But definitely not the dogs, cats or guinea pigs.
Ok, I’d also share with all my friends, family and coworkers because I’d want them to see how great these bars are!

By emily.loves.dance on 07/22/2010

I would create a ballerina or a hip-hopper (is that a word?) out of them, and eat them one by one, until all that is left are the shoes. Preferably high top shoes.  But I would eat those too… They would be the most delicious high tops I’ve ever tasted. And by eating this Clif bar dancer I would become a mega-dancer and beast it up on stage. Yep.

If I won a year’s supply of Clif Bars…

First, I’d pile them all up in my driveway.  People run by every morning and evening, and it seems to me that they are thirsty, and probably hungry by the time they finish, too.  I would grab a lawn chair and sit next to the huge pile of Clif Bars in my driveway.  As people came running by, and stopped to gawk at the Clif Bars next to me and drool, I’d squirt them with my garden hose and laugh at them for running around when they probably have Clif Bars waiting for them at home.  Then I’d throw them a Clif Bar.  But only one.

Second, I’d go climb Enchanted Rock.  I’ve always wanted to do that.  But I never had the inclination to do that without lunch, and I never wanted to tote a picnic basket up the rock face.  I’d take a few Clif Bars with me and tote my kids instead.  I’d probably have to put them down a few times on the way up, but it’d be easier on the way back, because they could roll down.  They probably wouldn’t even mind, because I’d give them a Clif Bar to eat before I told them to start rolling.

Third, I’d go to the nearest grocery store.  I’d get a whole cart full of other, lesser energy bars.  I’d take it up to the longest checkout line, and make a big deal and be all noisy about how I was going to probably take a long time to check out because they’d have to scan each bar, and then, just before I got to put my stuff on the belt, I’d say loudly, “What the heck was I thinking buying this crap?!?!?  I have CLIF BARS at home!” Then I would tip a stockboy to take all of it back.  A lot of money--that I saved because I’d be eating Clif Bars all the time instead of groceries!

Fourth, I’d go home for Christmas to Florida, where I would see all my relatives.  The night before, I would make a big deal about how my stocking was empty, since nobody does ‘stocking stuffers’ any more.  Then Christmas morning I would wake up and walk out in my jammies and say loudly, “SANTA CAME!” and turn over my stocking, which I would have filled at 3 a.m. with a hundred billion CLIF Bars.  And I would give everyone as many as they wanted, because it’d be Christmas, but I’d only give one to my Uncle Larry, only one, because he put ice down my pants when I was little.

Oh my Gosh!  Of course, I would eat them all - one by one.  smile I’d never run out of mid-day snacks for myself and my toddler....and we’d never have to eat another HFCS snack bar again!  Joy!

I teach high school in a rural public school… like most public schools right now the school budget is a major area of concern. What makes me reflect on our relative budget woes is the student’s diverse economic status. Over 50% of the students at my school are on free or reduced lunch. This means they get to eat really horrible public school food every day! The three most popular breakfast items are: A can of pop with a bag of chips, or an energy drink, or maybe just an egg mc muffin with chocolate milk. Needless to say they are given limited healthy choices for meals, and often simple buy whatever is portable and gives them a boost of energy for 1st period.
If I won a year’s supply of Clif Bars I would give them to my students who are on free lunch or bring garbage to eat every day. Since I teach Art I would distribute them in creative ways as well. I could have students draw themselves in 20 years if they ate energy drinks and candy every day, and then give them a Clif Bar and have them re-draw what they may look like if they change their eating habits… maybe even have them draw themselves actually doing something active while eating the Clif Bar.  What really matters is that most likely the Clif Bar in the morning will be the healthiest (and for she the most organic) thing they will eat all day. Many of them continue horrible eating habits at home, simply because of a lack of quality food at home or out of laziness (it is much easier to eat a candy bar than make a salad). This one Clif Bar could be a tiny change in their lives that may spark a lifestyle change. The day they eat a Clif Bar for breakfast could be the day they have the most energy, are the least hungry and probably the most alert and ready to learn the entire year. It would have positive effects on the behavior and grades as well.
So if you want the future of America to be bright, active and healthy… then I will put the years supply of Clif Bars to good. Or, if you hate America, give em to somebody else.
Love,
Brent Holland

I am diabetic and I have found that incorporating a Clif Bar in my diet has made a big difference in my A1c numbers, weight loss, and giving me energy during the day.  If I won a year supply I would present my findings at diabetic meetings/trainings on how there really is better choices.  Living in the mid-west can be tough to eat healthy when winter rolls around so having good choice like a Clif Bar has been shall I say a life savor.

Actually if I win what I would really like to do is donate the Clif Bar back and ask that they donate the Clif Bar in my Mom’s name that died of Diabetes.  Then I would continue to buy the bar since I want the Clif Bar company too be around a long time and enojoy success for all that they do for us.

Well, I’d do three things,

First, I am a distance runner.  So obviously, the days I run I’d eat a Clif Bar.  Which is pretty much what I do anyway.  But if I had free Clif Bars that would be totally awesome since I live on grad student stipend and have to do some pretty creative coupon/sale finagling to support my Clif habit and stay within my budget.

Second, I’d take the wrappers from the Clif Bars and send them to TerraCycle.

And third, (and probably most important), I’d send the extra bars from the days I’m not training and send them to Haiti.  I co-founded an organization, Vwazen Nou, about two years ago that supports health care in Haiti.  We’ve developed protocols and medical records software for periodic church clinics, trained and paid Haitians to be community health workers, and started a feeding program for school children.  After the earthquake, I sent down hundreds of Clif Bars with the aid workers that went from my community.  I realize that what I could provide if I won is a drop in the bucket of need, but even a drop matters to a starving person.

Shower, brush teeth, breakfast, bike to school, class, eat carrot cake clif bar, class, work out, drink water, bike 4 miles home, lunch, study, daydream about white chocolate macademia nut clif bars, mango black tea, dinner, study some more, brush teeth, drink water, some Conan and a little tv, sleep.  Good day and sweet dreamin’ about scarfing down a cool mint chocolate clif tomorrow afternoon …repeat.

I would start a chain of random acts of kindness:

1) Each CLIF Bar would have a laminated note attached to it:

“Random acts of kindness inspire, invigorate and brighten our day. We may not be able to change the world, change our community or change our lives with a single act of kindness but we may be able to change the day, week or year for someone else. Pass it on. Whether it be a bite to eat, an extra dollar, a helping hand or kind words. Series of random acts of kindness collectively make change. Learn more and track the change at (insert blog URL).”

2) Distribute 10 bars to my closets friends and family (myself included) with instructions to choose 10 random people who look to be in need of a random act of kindness and willing to pass it on.

3) Start a blog for people to reference and share their random act of kindness experiences.

4) Watch the world become a better place one random act of kindness at a time.

If I won a years supply of CLIF Bars I would box them up and send them to my nephew and his army buddies in Afghanistan. Energy bars are the number one items that he and his buddies request and why not send them the very best. He is in a stryker unit stationed over in Afghanistan and they have very limited space in one of those tankers. They need something quick and yummy to keep them alert and hunger free. It is a quick pick me up not to mention healthy for our troops that are keeping us safe here in the US so we can be free to chose. They are fighting for your right to live free and be able to produce such quality food.

IN OPENING A NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL AND WE WILL HAVE A ROCK CLIMBING WALL, I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A PICTURE AOF EACH OF THE KIDS HOLDING A CLIF BAR AS THEY ARE CLIMING OR STANDING IN FRONT OF THE WALL.  THE BOXES I WANT TO CUT UP AND USE AS A COLLAGE OF THE STUDENTS EXPERIENCE CLIMBING AND PLACE THEM ON A LARGE BOARD FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS TO SEE!

I believe if you eat well, move well and think well you will be well.  With my year’s supply of Cliff Bars I would begin to think about how to be well and share a message of wellness.  I would take them with me as I jump start my new life.  This fall, my youngest child starts kindergarten leaving me with some free time for the first time in 13 years.  This means that I can really start to think about all the adventure life holds and have some time to accomplish goals that have been put on hold.  I plan to map out a course for my days that includes yoga, hiking, Zumba, weight training and also serving needy children in my community.  My husband and I own an integrated health center that focuses on helping people achieve optimum health and wellness.  I want to share a message of health with our community of patients and community at large and you could be part of that message of hope for so many who are struggling.  I would bring your bars with me as I spread a message of hope for a better life of health and wellness.  We want to teach people that food is medicine for the body and that food has the power to make you whole.  We want families to realize the importance of food in achieving health and energy.  Your bars could help us empower families to take control of their lives.

I have lost 60 lbs and have competed in 3 triathlons and 1 duathlon in 6 months mainly because these bars give me the energy to get through and taste so good I eat them because I enjoy and not because I have to. Whenever I go anywhere, my backpack is packed full of these, Ive gotten my friends and family hooked on them. My little brother is constantly raiding my room for bars. I munch on these like their desert.

If I win I will continue on my journey in competing in 4 more triathlons, 3 olympic distanc and one half ironman distance. I will compete in a marathon in January and run a 185 mile relay. With Clif I will push my body past its breaking point.  With a year supply I can train to compete in the full Ironman distance. I have a new lease on life because of Clif and have never felt better. Thank you!

My husband and I are active triathletes. We love training together, with friends, and by ourselves. Since we train every day, we need nutrition to keep us energized.

Recently we took a trip to Santa Barbara. Of course we had to incorporate our training into our “vacation.” We brought everything we thought we needed for the trip (wetsuits, road bikes, mountain bikes, running shoes, helmets, etc), but before we went on our first bike ride we realized we didn’t have any nutrition. A quick trip to the grocery store led me to trying a new Clif Bar (Mojo Dipped PB&J;). Fell in love and now it’s my favorite bar to bring on long bike rides.

http://skylerandelise.blogspot.com/2010/05/relaxing-weekend-in-santa-barbara.html

So the question is what would I do with a year’s supply of Clif bars? Well, that’s easy. My husband and I would go on more training vacations so we could have an excuse to eat more Clif bars!

For a Fistful of *Clif Bars :D ~ I picture myself hiking the major national parks: Yosemite, Yellostone, Alaskan, fueled by a neverending supply of Clif Bars. Can we say “Bear Proof”?!  But I can imagine forgetting a food canister and having my camp annihilated by Bears, anyway. So it’s just as likely that wild critters would enjoy the bulk of my tasty Clif Bars, but wilderness camping does make for epic stories.

As an active runner, I’d eat one every day to recover after workouts!

By mommaof3ontherun on 07/26/2010

As a mom of 3, training for my first half marathon is taking all my “free time”. If I won a year’s supply of Clif Bars, you would be helping me to fuel my body to take care of my children and work in the schools in addition to train for my first half.  You would “free” up my breakfast and snack prep and help me be a better mom. No pressure! And of course, I would blog it up on my blog http://mommaof3ontherun.blogspot.com/

While bouncing back and forth between 3 jobs I’ve begun to rely on Clif Bars to keep my metabolism revved throughout the day. It’s so nice not to have to add “what to eat in the five minutes I have to spare” as another item on my ‘to do’ list. With a Clif Bar by my side, I can re-fuel and go!

As a social media marketing strategist, I would use my super-social-savvy-marketing-expertise to chronicle what can be accomplished in a year when fueled by Clif Bars. I have visions of a Facebook “Like” (formally ‘Fan’) Page titled something along the lines of, “My Year with Clif (Bar) - The Chronicles of a Girl and her Clif Bars” – In fact, as I’m writing this I went ahead and claimed that Page name (http://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Year-with-Clif-Bar-The-Chronicles-of-a-Girl-and-her-Clif-Bars/100634023327199) so that no one could steal it:-) (Always have to think 3 steps ahead in my line of work!) The Facebook Page would be linked to a Twitter account (ok, so I went ahead and “squatted” on this one, too – http://twitter.com/MyYrWithClif) and both accounts would be linked to a blog that I would start, committed to writing one entry per day, describing how my Clif Bar winnings help me be a strong, healthy, productive, young female entrepreneur .

With an existing and rapidly growing online network, I would introduce and encourage my friends, family, co-workers, clients, etc… to connect with me via these three social media channels so that I may teach and inspire them to be the best they can be, in every aspect of their lives, with every challenge and obstacle they may encounter, while incorporating the Clif Bar message and mission.

I’m a vegan and i run/swim everyday. People constantly ask me what i eat and how do i survive. I’d use my year’s supply to let those people see that environmentally friendly, animal friendly, and body healthy foods can taste great too.

I’d rub it on my navel.

I would send all of them to deployed soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. My boyfriend is currently deployed and they are always short on supply of protein. Soldiers lose so much muscle mass during their deployments and supplements like Cliff Bars really help to get them through long missions when they can’t stop to eat or don’t have enough rations to help keep them up their stamina. Regardless of anyone’s opinion on the war, keeping up their stamina and morale will help soldiers get home safe to their families. I know my boyfriend would greatly enjoy a year’s supply of Cliff bars.

If i won a Year Supply of Clif Bars, I would sell all of my worldly possessions, and Move everything i own into a large backpack, or possibly a duffel bag. Then i would begin traveling all over the world visiting as many different Ski resorts as i can. I would survive on my precious Clif bars, as i imagine i would be spending all of my other money on getting around. I have no doubt it would be a great advertisement for your company. Someone surviving solely on Clif bars to travel around the world, enjoying the outdoor sports they live for, and getting to see amazing parts of the country in the mean time.  PLEASE CLIF BAR!! Choose me so i can begin my amazing journey that will most likely change my life!!

If given the opportunity to recieve a year’s supply of CLIF Bars, I would put them to use in three ways:

1.) One-third of the CLIF Bars would be donated to Partners in Health, http://www.pih.org/, a Boston based charity organization that has been doing relief work primarily in Haiti for countless years before the earthquake. Of course as a result of that tragedy, the people of Haiti need help now more than ever, and Partners in Health needs all the help it can get in providing that relief allowing the Haitian people to rebuild. CLIF Bars, as a portable and nutritionally balanced food stuff, would go along way in nourishing the needy in that country (I have a personal contact in Partners in Health, who would see to it that the CLIF Bars would go directly into the hands of those who need that nutrition the most).

2.) The next third would go to Women for Women International, to be used in the post race spreads at their Run for Congolese Women fundraisers so as to allow more of the money raised during the event to go directly to the charity rather than to defrying the race costs. Ideally, the Bars would be used post race at the one mile run actually held in the Congo, run by the very women the organization assists.

3.) The final third would go to my teammates and I on the Cornell University cross country team. As DI runners, we need all the fuel we can get (and we would all be more than happy to share our CLIF Bars with whatever team we compete against. Those runners may technically be our competition, but they are our fellow athletes who need the energy just as much as we do).

Thank you CLIF Bar for this chance to make a difference in the world!

I will give the bars out to our elementary school kids to reward them for wearing their helmets and encourage them to ride to school. Our (PTA) goal is to reduce the pre and post school gridlock and pollution from cars and increase student safety. Studies show randomly rewarding helmet users to be a more effective method of increasing helmet use than giving out free helmets. We do have a few free helmets to give out but are focusing our efforts on random rewards. ClifBars or Twisted Fruits (my kids love Twisted Fruits!) would make superb rewards for our kids. So much healthier than popsicles or candy!

Here is a bit about our school: Dixie Sun Elementary, St George, Utah is the lowest socioeconomic elementary school in Southern Utah. 87% of our student body qualify for free or reduced lunches.

Here is a documentary about our school http://vimeo.com/12314864

http://dixiesunpta.wordpress.com/ is our PTA website

Dixie Sun Elementary is a public school. The teachers, community and PTA are working hard to make our school a kick ass place to be. We changed the school name (from Dixie Downs), brought in Spanish as an equal language making the school dual immersion, we have after school programs, music programs, we have a school uniform policy starting fall 2010, we are making a difference. Test scores are up and kids love their school.

We have many involved and motivated teachers and parents who will love ClifBar treats for their kids grin

Journey with me to different places around the US and the world.

Introducing, me: Clif and my blogger, Nicole. She’ll write about my adventures as we explore what it’s like in my everday life. Meet new people and see why they love me, and I’ll even be introduced to new people who will soon be Clif Bar fans. Nicole will hand me out to her friends and send me across the globe to places I’ve never been. She’ll make sure photos are taken of me with my new fans - them on their adventures holding a Clif Bar and eating (yikes!) me too and will blog my experiences.

with a year’s supply, i will cliff BAR and SHOT my way through training and (finally - thirds a charm, I reckon’) - to a Boston Marathon qualifying time at this October’s Marine Corps Marathon 2010 - then I’ll BAR and SHOT my way through blisteringly cold, dark winter training in Boston to run Boston in 2011 to the cheers of thousands, but most significantly to those of my two kids, wife, and faithful scout the dog (who has been dogging it lately on the training runs - and might just need an occasional bite or two from my year’s supply)

As an ultra endurance athlete I train...a lot.  I am always open to the newest “energy” or “health” bar that could take my training to the next level.  I incorporate all types of gels, bars, blocks, and ergogenic aids to help fuel my athletic endeavors but regardless of whichever fad product I use I am always pulled back to Clif Bars and its kin.  I do not know if it is the familiarity with the product, the positive association with performing well while using Clif products, or the idea that Clif Bars fit well with a vegan diet that keeps me coming back to Clif time and time again.  Clif Bars have become more than just fuel for the run, bike, or swim.  They have become a long time friend that is always there when needed to help run my next ultramarathon or comfort me through the solitude of training.  If I had a years supply of Clif product it would be like extending the visit of an old friend who comes to comfort you when you need that little extra push to reach your goal.  I would honestly keep all the Clif products for myself and be at peace knowing I have a secret stash of treasure that when needed will provide the extra push to reach each and every one of my goals.

wow… what could I do with a year’s supply of Clif Bars? I think I’d build a room outside to escape the insanity of this mad mad mad mad world.  As I grew hungry, I’d eat my way out eventually coming out as a fine tuned human being.  Then, I’d use the wrappers to plug the oil well in the gulf.

Back in April of 2008, I lost my mojo.  I was 35 pounds overweight.  I was feeling down and I was having a hard time finding myself due to some pretty stressful personal issues that were going on in my life.  One day, I finally said....That’s it!  I need to get my mojo back!  That was the beginning of the best days of my life.  I found it… my mojo… and I’ve never looked back.  If I were to win a year’s supply of Clif Bars, you can be certain that I’d always have my mojo… and when you have your mojo, you always have a smile.  smile

If I won this fabulous contest I would have one less thing to worry about!!  I LOVE MY CLIF BARS and sometimes scrape my piggy bank to get them.
I quit smoking in October after 33 years of the horrible addiction and December 1st I got it in my crazy head that I was going to become a runner (I’m 46- HA)!  I could successfully run a block and signed up for a 1/2 marathon May 2nd and began my training!  When I got my running time up to 20 minutes I would have a clif bar at the end of the run.  I lost 25 lbs in the first 3 months- YEAH!! Not to mention how much stronger I was getting. I began teaching the “Smoking Cessation” class at our local hospital and alternative high school and mentor new runners now through a “Learn to Run” program at our local Foot Zone store! I also started team “High Fivin Happy Girls” and am helping to organize out first womens half here in Bend Oregon (happygirlshalf.com).  A lot can change when “You” decide to change and my life has turned around in such a healthy way that I feel extremely blessed.  I am running my first relay this weekend and am actually the captain of our van. I’m on my way in a bit to get our clif bars (everything else is taken care of)!  This will be my 19th race since February 7th (5 of which where half marathons)! I started this path for me and now I am trying to be a good example to those around me that just don’t think they can get healthy. If I win the years supply of clif bars I can re-alot that money to another purpose!  I would TRULY appreciate winning this contest!

High Five,
Lenora James

Hello, I am a full-time high school counselor, part-time employee at REI and longtime fan of Clif Bars.  If I were given a year’s supply of Clif Bars, I would pledge to commute (12 miles roundtrip) to school by bike everyday for the entire 2010/2011 school year.  I would use the Clif Bars to fuel my daily commute and give extras to students, faculty and staff at the school in an effort to promote an organic, human-powered & healthy lifestyle.

By bradengm on 07/28/2010

I would build a Mount Rushmore of endurance athletes sculpted entirely out of Clif products.

By sterlingfan k on 07/28/2010

I would take them to the food pantry at my church and give them out to the many clients we serve.  We serve anywhere from 75-120 families a week with food, household products like toilet paper and paper towels, hygiene products such as soap and shampoo and toothpaste, diapers and baby wipes, and whatever other miscellaneous items we receive...everything from wall clocks and curtains to comforters and blankets.  We also give out free clothing and shoes and household items, all donated.  There is also a free Bible ministry where a client can receive as many Bibles as they need, imprinted with any name they choose.  If a client specifically asks for spiritual guidance or prayer, they receive that as well.  A year’s worth of Clif Bars would be a wondrous gift to those in need!

I don’t have a picture handy to link to, sorry!  If the Clif people contact me, I can give them the info.

Okay, okay...I admit, I would eat one or two.  Love the peanut butter ones!

5. I would take pictures every time I would eat one on an excursion or hike, etc. and send them in so you can have prove of how happy you made me!

There is nothing worse than going to grab a Clif Bar and finding the box empty. If we were to win a year’s supply of Clif Bars, my family would be content, and we know how difficult it is to find a content family! My 8 and 10 year old boys, and my husband and I consider the Clif Bars to be a staple in our home. My 5 year old daughter can’t live without the Mini-Clif Bars.  Before sports practices, in the school snack bags, the Clif Bars fit the bill.  We proselytize healthy snacking wherever we go.  With a year’s supply of Clif Bars, we could be more proactive sharing the snacks. When our kids’ friends are visiting or joining us at the pool or other activities, we offer them Clif Bars.  They are so tasty and fun to eat, the kids don’t realize how healthy they are.  They ask us where to buy them so they can ask their parents to stock them.  As parents, we consider ourselves our children’s first educators, and there is no greater joy than to share the message of fun, healthy snacks with our kids, and our kids friends.  Our children are the leaders of tomorrow, and now is the time to teach the importance of health and nutrition. Thank you, Clif Bars, for making our job so easy!!

If I won cliff bars for a year I would first hand some out to friend’s especially one’s that are skeptical to try cliff bars. Alot of my friend’s live unhealthy lifestyles and I want to try to turn them on to new things that can actually taste good and be good for you. Next, I would give them to my dad for us to use on our walks and outside hikes. He just had his knnes operated on and couldn’t do any kind of activity’s for almost a year and he kept eating fast foods, so he put on alot of weight. I just started a exercise routine with him and am trying to get him to eat better. The cliff bars would be put to full use by providing my dad a different alternative snack on the go when we go on our hikes. And, finally I would of course have some for myself to help me when I’m on the go or too busy to stop and have a healthy lunch or dinner. I am getting ready to start college again soon and will be working which leaves me not alot of time for me to make healthy food choices. The cliff bars would help give me the energy and nourishment I need to cram for exams and do homework. I’m going to college for nutritrional sciences too. So alot of science classes and that means more time used for studying.

Clif Bars are an indispensible part of this family’s life. My husband and I always carried them on our hikes, but 20 years ago when we started backpacking with our children—then ages 5 and 6—Clif Bars played the role of snacks and dessert. There was never a time on the trail when there wasn’t a bar in everyone’s pocket for quick energy. A few years later, our son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. To this day, he swears that Clif Bars are the best food to eat to keep his blood sugar normal during periods of sustained activity. We have continued to backpack in the Sierra every year since and Clif Bars are always in the bear canister! As our kids have now moved 250 miles away to the Bay Area for college (Go Bears!), my husband and I have been able to concentrate on our running, which means increased distances and race entries. Clif Bars to the rescue again: Prior to my runs, I fuel my body with a portion of Clif Bar, break the rest into pieces, and carry it with me for sustenance as needed. (We also depend on the Clif Shot Energy Gels and Clif Shot Bloks during running.) To this day, our children still carry Clif Bars in their backpacks for snacks. We are devoted to Clif Bars because of their organic ingredients, non-GMO commitment, and no white sugar or flour. We live in a small town in the Sierra foothills and drive 30-plus miles to restock our supply of Clif products. Thanks, Clif et al.!

How about photos of Clif bard powering me through life every day for a year!  Workouts, office, travelling, wherever!

By CutterXcore on 07/28/2010

I would pile them up and swim in them like Scrooge McDuck does with his gold coins.  I would tease those that love them and share with those that have never had them.
I will jump ten feet high or at least 1 foot high, ten times...I eat Clif bars for breakfast during the week and to keep me sustained during my rides & training.  Shot blocks are a must for any competition..

By morganfletcher on 07/28/2010

I would turn them into a year of bike rides. The energy in the food would be come energy in my legs, scattering rocks in the darkness, bumping tires over roots, climbing through fog, sprinting before lifting then airing over berms. Thoughts, heartbeats, meditations and hard breathing would express the energy in the food. Stops are about eating and drinking and conversations with friends, and for one year the stops (http://www.flickr.com/photos/25470661@N08/4775165459/) would be colored by flavors and textures from Clif Bar. And I’d continue recycling the wrappers too.

By ram36 on 07/28/2010

With all of the amazing and unique flavors, I would designate my workouts each day off what flavor I ate that morning.

For example if I had my favorite ( White Macadamiona Nut) it would definitely be a long run/ride.

If I ate my second favorite (Black Cherry almond) it would be a shorter intense workout.

Blueberry crisp? Intervals.

Toffee Buzz? Fartlek.

Apricot? Blah. Must be an off day.

However, with all the seasonal flavors I may be running out of workout. Oh well, I’d eat all the clif bars anyways.

By darnyce on 07/28/2010

I would use them to fuel me while training for my first marathon!

I love Clif Bars, Gels, Shot Blox, etc.  The best stuff out there.  Keep up the good work!

By mconnors on 07/28/2010

If I were to win a year’s supply of Clif Bars, I would share them with my dogs Chico and Sienna. A few years ago during a run, I shared part of my Crunchy Peanut Butter Clif Bar with them and since that time it is their favorite treat. After every trail run, the three of us share a bar (or two!).
If selected, Chico, Sienna and I will celebrate by eating a bar on our rest day!!

It’s not me me me, its we we we. I’d share the bars with the peolple I meet on all the rivers I paddle. Flat H2o or wild h2o.

I would use the great Cliff products for my 16 year old son who races every race in the area and National events.  He races road, track, mountain bike, cyclo cross and BMX.  We just got done racing the Tour of America’s Dairyland, Superweek, Mtn bike National Championships and now he is going to Jr National Development camp.  With all the racing and training he eats a ton of Cliff products and drinks the Cliff supplements like crazy.  He also eats the Builder bars as snacks too.  I could use the help from Cliff to keep his wheels turning.  Thank You Cliff for such awesome products.

By nebraskatallgrass on 07/28/2010

I would dispose of them with my mouth, one a day for 365 days.
Signed,
Proud CLIF bar consumer for 15 years!!

By tiatoad on 07/28/2010

Well a year’s supply of Clif Bars would not last a year in my household, considering my 3 year old and my 14 month old are known to eat 1 to 2, sometimes even 3 a day! I feel good about letting them eat something so yummy and good for you, and sometimes it’s the only thing that they will eat for breakfast. It’s a win/win battle for me, the kids get something that is good and fills them up and they think they are getting a treat! My husband and I are just as guilty about eating them all the time, they are a great source of energy when you are running after 2 small kids all day. I guess also if I had a year’s supply I would have to fight off my brother’s as well because all of us eat them. I even got my nephew hooked on them and he doesn’t eat anything (he is the world’s pickiest eater! and that is coming from a picky eater!) Even though I’m not a hard core athlete, I’m a hard core fan of Clif Bars and I recommend them to all the parents I know for their kids, with all the horrible snack foods out there for them to eat, I feel great giving them Clif Bars for their snack choice! We love you Clif Bars, oh and I got my free sample of the Clif Crunch and I had to fight my youngest brother for it! Luckily I got one bite in and I can’t wait to find them in our local stores! Yummy!

I’m hungry for success and the only way to make it to the top is with Clif Bars!

By bmd2k1 on 07/28/2010

I would collect each and every one of the 365 bars—then create an impenetrable fortress out of them, able to withstand the wind, sleet and snow of Michigan weather - from which within I will live day in and day out until each and every bar is eaten for my ongoing sustenance.

On second thought.....

Sharing them with the local Neighborhood house would be a much better path to take....feeding hungry folks and putting smiles on faces grin

-Brian

By Dmazr on 07/28/2010

I would be set!! Ready to go!!

By nebraskatallgrass on 07/28/2010

I would eat them and share them.  I’m a CLIF bar consumer for 16 years!  CBs go EVERYWHERE I go.  Especially camping and traveling.  We eat CBs EACH morning for breakfast.
My husband read ‘Raising the Bar’ (Story of Clif Bar) and we both commend CLIF Bar for upholding it’s integrity and business/environmental ethics!
Thank you for doing what you do!!

By kimmyjahnke on 07/28/2010

I would wake up every morning & enjoy a Clif Bar to remind myself there is good things in life outside of my daily struggle through law school. I would also share some with my classmates so that they could enjoy a healthy energy kick to power through our marathon study sessions!

By lavajin on 07/28/2010

If I won a years supply of Clif bars, I would have to start a blog.  Every day, I would wash my hand, grab a cup of coffee, then sit down at the breakfast table and sculpt my breakfast Clif bar into a tasty work of art.  Before I ate, I would take a picture and post it on the blog.  I would call the blog “OriClifBari” or “Clifigami” or something along that line.  I would also cut 3 squares out of each wrapper, and fold them into origami ranes, so that by the end of the year I’d have over 1,000 Clif cranes.

Of course, I’d have to incorporate an art installation with the cranes into it, probably somewhere along one of my favorite hiking trails.

Last but not least, I’d use the blog and the art to raise funds for a conservation non-profit.  Most likely through donations, prints of the Clif sculptures, pledges on miles hiked to create the installation, and perhaps by selling the cranes at the end of the year.

I’m always looking for an excuse to create art and hike, this would be a perfect opportunity!  :D

By runnerskitchen on 07/28/2010

Why I want to win - by the numbers
I eat Clif bars approximately 5 days per week (5 x 52 weeks) or about 260 bars per year. Each Clif bar costs about $.99, so in total I spend about $257.40 (260 x $.99) on your product. If I had an extra $257.40, I would 1) pay next year’s NYC Marathon fee $160 ($11 processing fee + $149 entry fee) and then use the remaining $97.40 to buy my mom a pair of running shoes, so that we can share my favorite activity together. And if she’s lucky, I’ll give her a chocolate chip Clif bar - my fav!

By afedynak on 07/28/2010

I would take them and distribute them to anyone and everyone during the multitude of activities at our local non-profit arts center, Flood Gallery Fine Arts Center in Asheville, NC.  There the kids in our programs, our patrons, our visitors, fellow artists, and the entire surrounding community would have something to snack on, while we try to make a difference in the world.

By cmac14 on 07/28/2010

I would eat two daily, one for a pre-ride snack, and the other during the ride. Just discovered them a month ago and love them now. What a great snack/food

By Kristeng02 on 07/28/2010

Hmmm...a years supply of Clif Bars would be a dream come true for me! Why? Because I always have to have one on hand. In the morning, I make sure to throw one or two in my bag for a breakfast treat or an afternoon snack. I always feel better when I eat healthily and stay on track with Clif Bars. And because I’d have a whole years supply, I would be sure to hand some out to friends, family and coworkers when they need a quick fix. And with the money I would save with my supply of bars, I would donate it to a non-profit charity of my choice to help others. Mmm...now I’m hungry for a Clif Bar. Luckily, I’ve got a chocolate brownie bar right here. =)

By chupacabrax on 07/28/2010

i would use them to help me on my way to getting in shape.  I’m a large man, 6’5” - 300 lbs, so when i go hiking or riding my bike with my family, i need a good source of energy that’s also good for me.  i’ve been eating a clif bar for breakfast on hectic days when i knew i wouldn’t be able to get something healthy, and we all know that fast food breakfast is horrible for you, so a clif bar is the way to go.  i’ve even gotten my girlfriend eating them now, and she hates anything healthy, so if i won the years supply, it would be a great help in changing our lives, food wise and heath/happiness wise.

here’s my facebook page, go ahead and see that i’m a huge man that could use a bit of help eating healthy and using that energy to stay more happy and active with my family.

The next time I am the quarterback for a team that just won the super bowl, instead of saying that I’m going to Disneyland, I’ll tell them that I am going to eat a cliff bar every day for the next year so we win the super bowl again the following year.

By stacyjulian on 07/28/2010

I’m almost embarrassed to say this, but I’ve just discovered Clif Bars. And guess what? I’m not an athlete, I’m a scrapbooker! I’m a middle-aged mom, raising five kids and running an online business. Clif Bars are now my favorite way to “treat” myself.
If I win, I would create a super-cool scrapbook of each and every Clif bar. I would take document one year of my life through the lens of my new Clif Bar habit. I would document where I am when I eat my bar, or who I share a bar with and why.

Ok, that is such a cool idea.
Good luck with your decision!

By kimgbruce on 07/28/2010

I would start the Cliff Bar Diet Fad.

I would be the kim of Cliff like the Jared of Subway!

By mzteat on 07/28/2010

Initially I will be selfish and keep all of the peanut butter Clif Bars for myself-I gave up chocolate for Lent last year, and the pb’s are my faves.

Whatever other kinds I get I will give them to my cousin who is a volunteer firefighter in Pleasant Grove, CA. He goes to the California wildfires and says the Clif Bars are given out and really keep the hunger pains down and are very satisfying during the long fighting days out in the sun and wind.

If I have any left over after the wildfire season, I will keep to use for my new training regimin. I am starting a new job and have a new workout goal. I have fallen off the workout wagon, but will restart it with the new job. My new goal is to do a 5k run before the new year...Blech. It is exciting in theory, but nervewracking in actuallity.

Thank you for the opportunity to win some yumm-o Clif Bars!!!

By lance on 07/28/2010

The short generic answer is to use them for fuel. Now the explination of the short answer is a bit long. Two years ago I weighed 330lbs.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/52502061@N02/4839392166/
I was 37, my blood pressure was high, i had to sleep on the couch because my snoring kept my wife up at night. The simple act of tying my shoes was a struggle. I was a sinking ship. I made a choice one night soon after my mother died. I knew I was not going to go down the road she went. I started to eat better, and be active.
After two years of total dedication I saw my weight plummet down to 185lbs.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/52502061@N02/4838780281/.
Now what I would do with a years supply of Clif Bars is eat them twice a day every day as i have for the past 18 months. I eat a Clif bar an hour before i hit the gym while at work. While in the gym I focus on a certain muscle group and lift hard for 45 minutes. I end that with a 10 to 15 minute run on the treadmill. I don’t know what it is about that little bar of oats that allows me to complete an hour in the gym with no weakness or slowing down.
I eat a Clif builder on my way home, it keeps me sated and prevents me from gorging for dinner.
I would also keep making art from the wrappers.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/52502061@N02/4839393240/
I have over 700 used wrappers and plan to make book covers when school starts up for the kids.
The wonderful foods from Clif bar has helped me change my dangerously unhealthy lifestyle. I am now very active ,running ,biking, you name it. And Clif bar is with me and my kids through every endeavor. Giving us that incredible surge of energy to finish!!

By stephenjmaclean on 07/28/2010

As a full-time MBA student, I will consume the free Clif Bars everyday to give me the energy that I need, so I can get through the rigorous program.  As I am almost halfway through the program, I must give the Clif Bar Company credit for enabling me to perform exceptionally thus far.  I typically eat two Clif Bars on a given day and my favorite variety is Black Cherry Almond.

Dating back to ‘92 Erickson gazed upon a star,
“All other brands, too bland, too rich, I must rush’n perfect ZBar.”
For boys and girls (and parents too!), not just any flavor will do,
Variety is needed, for any activities they choose,
Chocolate brownie, honey graham, and some peanut butter to boot,
But when hiking on those trails kids need that twisted fruit.
Blueberry, Apple Cinnamon, whatever their desire,
But chocolate chip and and Spooky S’mores are saved for the campfire.

Eating mixed nuts, PB pretzels, while roasting peanuts for my honey,
I’ll play my mountain mix, though it sounds a little funny.
We’ll sing and dance and play some tunes all for lil’ JoJo,
But when she goes to bed it’s time for sweet and salty mojo.

We’ll sleep all night under a blanket of stars and be protected by the moon - yeah,
But it’s all over the very next day, unless wifey gets her chai tea luna.
Upon the daybreak as we open our eyes and the sun is all we see,
I’ll reach in my pack and prepare for my ride by eating a raspberry Clif C.

Though I always fear for when that time is here and my inner tube pops,
I’m so very relieved and relish in the fact that I remembered my cookie dough shot roks.
After this delay and 38 miles it’s already time for lunch,
but have no fear white chocolate macadamia is here to save us from this crunch.

I arrive back home late and my family looks at me bewildered,
I explain i had to stop and enjoy my favorite - lemon builder’s.
They then rebutted I’ve acted so selfishly - I need to take care of my family,
So we packed our bags and took a trip searching for the original Kali.

While preparing for a cross country bike trip
What is better than clif bar chocolate chip?

Riding across the USA
Building houses for fams with low pay

The days will be filled with sweat and sun
But with a clif bar in my pocket, it’ll be fun!

Wow...a whole year of Clif Bars.  The possibilities are endless not to mention delicious.  I rarely leave home without a Clif or LUNA product now, unless it’s to run to the local wholesale club to buy more smile I eat them, my husband eats them and my 4 year old daughter is already an addict.  More importantly, I spread the love of Clif and healthful eating on to my High School Students.  Several times a week, my students will be in my room, skipping lunch for whatever reason of the week and I toss them a Clif Bar, explaining it’s health benefits and how they should never skip a meal.  Some of these students just don’t have the money for lunch so knowing that I can at least offer them something that is delicious and nutritious without embarrassing them by buying them lunch or giving them money is just another reason why I love Clif.  (it goes without saying that all wrappers would be recycled through TerraCycle right?)

By Christi on 07/29/2010

A year’s supply of Clif Bars, hrm?  There would be one in every one of my purses, to stave off those hunger cravings that hit when I’m out and about and my only available food options are unhealthy ones.  There would be at least three in my backpack on every hike or bike ride I go on.  There would be several in my drawer at work, the drawer stocked up with Clif Bars, teas, and mints.  Then, once I’ve squirreled away Clif Bars in various locations to be prepared for those sneaky hunger cravings, I’d start experimenting with Clif Bars in baking.  Clif Bar pudding, maybe?  Clif Bar pie?  Hrm.. So many possibilities!

By Bethm2003 on 07/29/2010

When I was pregnant, CLIF Bar was my daily morning meal.  Amazingly, I was able to carry my twins to near full term - which I credit CLIF for - it is rare that twins are carried to full term).  Later, after forgetting how much energy CLIF had given me while carrying my twins, I struggled to lose the last 25 extra pounds.  Then, a light bulb turned on and I went back to my friend CLIF for my morning meal (White Chocolate Macademnia Nut specifically) and guess what… I dropped the 25 lbs in 3 to 4 months.  This cannot be a coincidence!!!

Many of my friends are starting or have just started their own families.  If I won, in addition to sharing my story with them (which I currently do) I would hand them as many CLIF Bars as they needed to keep their embryos and their bodies healthy.  Once they started eating the bars, they would like me, become life long customers.

Being a LIVESTRONG advocate I would use the Clif bars to fuel my training, riding and racing as I aim to keep spreading cancer awareness throughout all the rides I do, from the LIVESTRONG Challenge to the Breast Cancer Awareness ride later this year. Last year I suffered a hunger knock in the challenge and I know with Clif at my side (or in my back pocket more specifically), there would be no such thing, Clif bars hold me over perfectly. I eat them as it is but trying to pay for nutrition and continuing to raise money for the cause don’t mesh well together as most of my money goes to the fight against cancer.

By realprettythangsandcrap on 07/29/2010

A Year supply of CLIF BARS, heck yeah!  My name is Alli and I’m a 23 year old, recent graduate.  If I won those morsels, I would commit myself to something crazy, so crazy that I would want everyone to witness it.

I started biking 4 months ago in preparation for an out-of-no-where idea I had to bike the Oregon coast, thats almost 400 miles!  Before those 4 months, I hadn’t ridden a bike since I was 16.

Now that Im a die hard, I want to commit myself to the Clif Bar company.  If you would have me as your Clif Bar blog winning champion I promise to ride for three months straight across the United States wearing three custom made Clif bar jerseys in my three favorite flavors, Cool Mint, Blueberry Crisp, and Black Cherry Almond.  I know, blogs this blogs that, but blog this… my journey could be watched by America every step of the way and I promise to get into some pretty hairy situations if you know what I mean… ok me neither.

I would donate all 365 Clif Bars to my country, Sweden. Yes, Sweden.

I believe that it would receive great reception. Maybe something like this…

Ray Bradbury: “Go to the edge of the cliff and jump off. Build your wings on the way down.”

The cliff is where you start--the work happens afterward. And probably, mostly inside your head. Clif bars have been a constant in my life over a decade of some pretty big changes. If I won a year’s supply, I’d eat them all, and keep thinking about changing myself and how I live in the world.

And every time I unwrapped a bar, I’d take a minute to just slow down, because people have a hard time with that these days--remembering that slowing down is just as important to health as speeding up. I’d think about how lucky I was to win the contest; and by extension, all the many things that I have to be grateful for. That’s a good thing to do.

By calljac86 on 07/29/2010

If I won a year supply of Clif Bars I would have to do the same thing that I do now: hide them from my wife.

By Zkidsrule on 07/29/2010

I would simply utilize every Clif bar I have as a symbol of motivation for every-body.

I would promote the Clif spirit in every day life and pass on the optimism to others.

As a college student, I am passionate about health awareness to young adults my age; I feel that many may have steered away from paying attention to what they consume.  Quick and easy snacks should be redirected towards a Clif bar, a healthy and energizing meal versus what fried foods are on every street corner.

Being open to everything adventurous, always on the go and searching for the hidden treasures in life.  I would build upon one local marathon/triathlon that entitles a “treasure hunt” for Clif bars at certain milage markers, for instance.  New ideas for every athlete with a different taste bud.

A year would be enough time to make a huge difference.  Trust me.

Passionately,
Jessica

By waldenpond on 07/30/2010

I’d build a bed out of all of them, and go back to sleep. Whenever I was hungry, I’d just nibble on the bedpost. No need to “wake up on any given weekday morning...”

For a year’s supply of Clif Bars, Wholly Cow!  If I cann’t stop by weekly for a box so I don’t eat them all, I would freeze a bunch, keep couple of boxes in the car trunk for my rides and runs and my friends anyone I met and some in the door to give to the homeless on street corners, few in the day pack, bike bag/box that does not hold much.  Couple in the glovebox for snacks.  Have one for breakfast on the real early days.  Put my Clif Bar money to Clif shot gel, blocks and powders.  The complex carbs in the grains and syrup slow release and don’t give me highs and then drop me like other energy bars.  Who knows take it as it comes.  I moved to Calf recently to be in the energy of the SF Bay area and companies like Clif Bar and support all that you do and represent.  How about wrap my car to say powered by Clif Bar.  Thanks for stepping out and making it happen, you inspire me and so many more.

Lets face it: A year’s supply of Clif Bars would last us a month, which would make that the best month ever for all eleven of us - and lately we’ve been having some great months. Since February we have visited 29 states playing music with our instruments made from naturally fallen trees with non-toxic finishes. Between shows we camp at National Parks, State Parks, in back yards, and on random rocks in Utah.  As vegans, we survive on Clif Bars and organic fruit between scheduled stops at vegan restaurants on our route, and we are especially thankful to have a stash of Clif Bars on hand when we get to take last minute sailing trips on the Puget Sound, early morning hikes in Boulder, CO, and after swimming in glacial runoff in Montana.

Our last album was recorded using only solar energy, and we rode our bikes 20 miles a day from our campsite in Wisconsin to The Aldo Leopold Legacy Center where we set up a remote studio for 30 days.  That album is packaged in 100% post consumer recycled paper which is printed on with veggie inks.

TRIVIA!!!!  Which President did Andy select to report on in 5th grade before his class trip to the state capital? Guess correctly and YOU may win a Clif Bar!

Click on this link to find the answer and to see what would happen with all of our Clif Bars.
