TCB athletes leave a mark at Wildflower

Last weekend at Wildflower Team Clif Bar athletes showed up and left a worthy mark. Chris McCormack turned on the afterburners on Beach Hill and took his 4th Wildflower win after battling with Eneko Llanos all race long. Chris remains undefeated at Wildflower with wins in ’01, ’02, ’04 & ’08. “The last three miles, Eneko and I ran together and I just rolled the dice on that last downhill to the finish,” said McCormack. “I’m very proud I am unbeaten in my four tries at one of the greatest races in our sport.” In the women’s race, three TCB…

Team Clif triathlete Kelly Couch is 1st American at Wildflower

Sometimes dealing with the stress of starting a major athletic event can have adverse effects on an athlete’s performance. Strong athletes tend to put a lot of pressure on themselves to do well in races, only to have that pressure render them exhausted during the event. Having only recently come back from an IT band injury that slowed her training over the winter, TCB athlete Kelly Couch rolled into last week’s Wildflower Triathlon with no expectations and reaped the benefits of competing in a relaxed-but-focused manner. Since she was unable to run with much intensity during the off season, Kelly…

With a well-rounded team of sprinters and overall race contenders present, the Clif Bar and Clif Shot-fueled BMC team plans on bringing its trademark…

Running's a good time. Especially when the weather turns a bit more favorable. But when you're an ultra runner, you've got to really like running, regardless of weather the sun's out. I mean, you must really really like running. Just take a look at Michael Kanning, who, at 16 years old, does a lot of running. Even when the weather isn't so hot...Here's the latest and greatest of what he's got up his sleeve—just a little 100-mile race and a bit of fundraising while he's at it. Not too shabby if I shall say so myself. In September 2007 I…

On the road with Marina and Kristian

Kristian's back with another update from his travels up the coast... Well Marina and my great adventure continued from San Diego into the huge metropolitan area of Los Angeles. For our small-city Berkeley ways, we were definitely two fish out of water. I must say Marina did quiet well managing me through the vast highway systems and interconnecting city streets. We did end up accidentally driving onto a movie set, but I'll take the blame for that one. Throughout our travels we've seen a lot of smiling faces, a couple of celebrities, met some amazing people, filled up with Bio-Diesel…
