Do any of your products contain pistachios?

None of our products contain pistachios.

What procedures do you have in place in regards to Food Safety?

At Clif Bar & Company, food safety is our number one priority. We are committed to the following procedures and protocols regarding food safety:

• All vendors are subject to an extensive vendor quality approval process including annual independent 3rd party inspections and review of their Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans.

• All vendors must maintain 100% compliance with the USDA’s National Organic Programs (NOP) and meet or exceed any state or federal regulations

• Our ingredients and finished products must pass rigorous food safety tests above and beyond FDA standards and meet our strict parameters for appropriate quality, microbiological and chemical standards

• A certificate of analysis by a third party laboratory must accompany every shipment to meet our protocols

• We test for pathogens in ingredients and finished goods and have a zero tolerance for Salmonella

• All facilities we work with must maintain a commitment to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and maintain regulatory compliance.

We are also evaluating additional procedures and protocols to further ensure food safety; these include but are not limited to:

• Unannounced third party auditor visits

• Increased Clif Bar & Company audits

• Increased frequency of one-on-one meetings with suppliers to review individual food safety procedures and processes

• Increased visits to supplier facilities

• Meeting with and reviewing third party auditors’ procedures and protocols

• Leveraging independent expert microbiologists to further strengthen testing and procedures where appropriate.

Are any of your products gluten-free?

Twisted Fruit is gluten-free. While CLIF SHOT and LUNA Sport products do not contain any gluten ingredients, they are not produced in a gluten-free zone. All other CLIF Bar products contain gluten as an active ingredient.

Do any of your products contain wheat?

All CLIF Bar products do not contain wheat except CLIF MOJO.

Do any of your products contain dairy?

CLIF SHOT Electrolyte Drink contains whey. While all other CLIF Bar products do not contain dairy as an active ingredient, the food manufacturing process is such that we cannot guarantee that trace amounts of dairy will never turn up in our products, even for products as natural and wholesome as ours. If you believe that you are profoundly allergic to dairy, you may want to consider not consuming our products or take the same precautions you do with all other pre-packaged and processed foods.

Do any of your products contain nuts?

Although the surface that CLIF Bar products are baked on is washed completely, between bakes of different flavors, unfortunately, a microscopic trace (some literature suggests only a thousandth of a milligram!) of peanut and/or tree nuts can trigger a reaction in an allergic individual. There is simply no way to guarantee a peanut- and/or tree nut-free product in a facility where large amounts of peanut butter and almond butter are used.

Do any your products contain alcohol?

Very small amounts of alcohol, similar to what is found in store bought organic vanilla extract, are in all CLIF Bar products except CLIF MOJO and all CLIF Nectar flavors (except Lemon, Vanilla and Cashew).

Do any of your products contain corn?

Corn is not added to any of our products at this time. However, several of the vitamins in some of products are sourced from corn. The vitamins sourced from corn in CLIF BAR and CLIF BUILDER'S BAR are vitamins C, riboflavin, and B12. In LUNA, only vitamin C is sourced from corn. In CLIF Kid ZBaR, vitamin C and B12 use corn starch in processing.

Are they vegan-friendly?

All CLIF Bar products are made from ingredients that do not come from animals except most Mojo flavors (contains organic honey), and CLIF SHOT Recovery Drink and Luna Sport Recovery Smoothie (contains whey).

Do any of your products contain MSG?

There is no MSG in any CLIF Bar product.

Are all of your products certified kosher?

All Clif Bar products are certified kosher by Kof-K except CLIF SHOT, SHOT BLOKS, and Luna Sport Moons.

Do all of your products have an expiration date?

Our products are all natural and do not contain preservatives.
We can guarantee our products will be fresh up to one month past the recommended best by or sell by code found on product’s package.

Do any of your products contain soy?

All Clif Bar products contain soy except CLIF Nectar, LUNA Tea Cakes, CLIF SHOT, CLIF SHOT BLOKS, and CLIF SHOT Energy Drinks. ( If however you allergic to soy there is a chance of trace amounts showing up in these products because they share the same line with our other soy containing foods.)

Do any of your products contain caffeine?

There are several Clif Bar products that contain added caffeine. Three of our Clif Shot flavors have caffeine. Strawberry contains 25mg, Mocha contains 50mg, and Double Expresso contains 100mg of caffeine. Three of our Clif Shot Bloks have caffeine. Cherry, Cola and Orange each contain 50mg of caffeine. Chocolate flavored Clif, Clif Builder’s, Luna, and Nectar bars contain approximately 2-5 mgs of caffeine due to the chocolate.

Do any of your products contain trans fats/hydrogenated oils?

There are no trans fats/hydrogenated oils in any of our products.

What are natural flavors?

Our natural flavors are a proprietary blend of plants based ingredients such as leaves, spices, berries, fruit skins, and beans.

Do any of your products contain genetically engineered ingredients?

We source ingredients that are not genetically engineered.

What are “Other Carbs” listed on the nutrition label?

There are some ingredients in our products that contain carbohydrates that contribute not only to the count of fiber and sugar but are also composed of compounds that do not fit into either of those headings. This is what we have labeled on our wrappers as “Other Carbs.” These carbohydrates, in particular, are what enable our products to give you long lasting and sustained energy. Ingredients that fall into the “Other Carb” category are; rice flour, dried fruit, oats, oat flour and soy ingredients. The carbohydrates from these “Other Carbs” are included in the Total Carb count.
