Our Hot drinks were created for cold weather athletes like skiers, snowboarders, ice climbers, and mountaineers. Electrolyte is best consumed DURING activity while Recovery is best consumed immediately AFTER activity. For example, Hot Electrolyte can be drunk from a thermos while in the backcountry or during a break in the ski lodge. Hot Recovery can be drunk around a winter campfire or in the car on the way home from a day on the slopes.
Simply put, winter athletes work just as hard their warm weather counterparts. Downhill skiers, snowboarders, nordic skiers, and mountaineers all burn between 500-1,000 calories per hour, just like swimmers, runners, and cyclists. In order to stay out longer and come back ready for the next day proper hydration and nutrition need to be maintained. Sports drinks, both Electrolyte and Recovery, are the fastest and most convenient way to deliver the hydration and nutrition that make this possible.
Winter athletes face the unique challenge of having to maintain body heat for both enjoyment, performance, and safety reasons. By adding hot water to these classic hot drink flavors, winter athletes can get the hydration and nutrition they need, and can also stay warm allowing them to make the most out of their cold weather outing.
Absolutely. There are certainly times when a hot drink would be perfect. After early morning runs or late season rides when winter is just around the corner you might come home chilled to the bone. That’s the perfect time to recover with Shot Hot Chocolate.
There’s one flavor for Electrolyte - Hot Apple Cider, and one flavor for Recovery - Hot Chocolate.
Sure, they taste great cold too.
No, neither Hot Electrolyte nor Hot Recovery has caffeine.
Yes Electrolyte Hot Apple Cider uses 97% organic ingredients while Recovery Hot Chocolate uses 87% Organic Ingredients. No other powdered sports drinks on the market use any organic ingredients at all.
We’re very excited to have found this new ingredient. ORM provides a neutral flavor and little sweetness, along with being efficacious for the athlete, and of course certified organic. Given all of these attributes ORM is an ideal ingredient to use in our new Hot Drinks.
There’s no comparison really. Store bought drinks are mostly sugar and flavoring. Few have any electrolytes and almost never any protein. They’re simply not made with athletes in mind.
