|What is the shelf life of your foods?|
For best quality, our food should be consumed by the BEST BY or SELL BY date printed on each wrapper. To find where the BEST BY or SELL BY date is located,
|Do your foods contain genetically modified ingredients?|
Clif Bar & Company is committed to sourcing ingredients that are not genetically engineered in all of our products. We have stringent protocols for GMOs which includes requiring affidavits from ingredient suppliers demonstrating they can meet our non-GMO requirements.
Many Clif ingredients are organic which by Certified Organic Standards in the U.S. means that ingredients are sourced from non-GMO. These ingredients are accompanied by an organic certification. Any conventional ingredient also is shipped to us with an affidavit to ensure the ingredient meets our non-GMO requirements.
|Where are your foods made?|
Our food is made in the USA and select products are made in Canada.
|What procedures do you have in place in regards to food safety?|
As a food company, food safety is a top priority for our company. We have numerous safety procedures which include extensive screening of all vendors and third party audits to ensure all vendors are complying with our stringent guidelines.
We also have a dedicated food safety and quality assurance staff that oversees all our foods to make sure our ingredients and our products are healthy and nutritious. We also have food and agriculture experts on our sustainability team who are always looking for ways to improve and create a more sustainable food system.
Offering nutritious food is what we do, and like you, we care about what we put in our bodies.
|Can your wrappers be upcycled?|
Yes, our food wrappers can be upcyclyed (except CLIF Kid Organic Zfruit and CLIF SHOT® foods). To help reuse and recycling of our wrappers, we have partnered with TerraCycle to sponsor their wrapper brigade to encourage and incentivize energy bar wrapper recycling.
At the same time, we are continually striving and challenging our suppliers to develop a wrapper that is both environmentally sound and protective of our food, there just simply isn’t the technology we feel is up to the standards we need.
TerraCycle Brigades are grassroots, environmental education programs sponsored by proactive companies such as Clif Bar. TerraCycle partners with companies to create waste stream solutions through “upcycling,” or creating usable goods from items previously considered waste. Participants in the Clif Bar/TerraCycle Energy Wrapper Brigade may designate themselves if they are a school or nonprofit organization, or select another charity, to receive money for each energy bar wrapper they collect. Wrappers are made into goods such as backpacks.

|Are your foods available outside of the USA?|
Currently, we export select products and flavors to Austria, Canada, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, and the UK only. We are developing our export capability in order to expand to additional countries in the future. This process involves an evaluation of our ingredients for compliance with various regulations, the labeling requirements, and allergen statements.
|Do you sponsor athletes?|
Since 1992, we've sponsored athletes who embrace the entire athletic experience—training, racing, and community involvement—and want to share it with others. TEAM CLIF BAR tends to see very little turnover each season, so we're only able to offer sponsorship to a small number of new athletes each year. For more information, click here.

In order to prevent misunderstandings about the origin of ideas, we do not accept or record suggestions for new products, flavors, or promotions from outside the company. Our foods begin in our kitchen with our chefs and athletes. We hope you understand.
|Do you offer samples or coupons?|
We’ve been known to send samples of new flavors or coupons to our CLIF newsletter and LUNA newsletter subscribers, and CLIF Facebook and LUNA Facebook fans, from time to time!
