What makes CLIF Kid snacks special?

  • Proper portions of important nutrients necessary for energy and growth
  • Snack variety providing whole grain and fruit options
  • Key vitamins and minerals based on kids' intake and Recommended Daily Allowances (RDA)

Essential nutrients that play together to provide energy and support growth:

Carbohydrates Energy for muscles and the brain

The primary energy source for working muscles and clear thinking. Carbohydrates are also a vehicle for fiber and whole grains, which are difficult for kids to get enough of in their diet. Look for whole grain options that provide at least 2 grams of fiber, 8 grams of whole grains, and offer a portion of the RDA for other nutrients.

Fat For long lasting energy and essential nutrients

Fat works in the body in many ways. It provides energy, essential fatty acids, and fat soluble vitamins (A, E, D) that all work together to protect the body and work within the central nervous system. Avoid partially hydrogenated oils, the source of trans fats and instead look for foods that provide only low amounts of saturated fat and are higher in the good fats known as mono & poly-unsaturated fat.

Protein For building and repairing growing, active bodies

Plays a large part in muscle development, helps the immune system, and slows the digestion for carbohydrate to help curb sugar crashes. Good source of protein include seeds, nuts, legumes, cheese, yogurt, beans, lean meats, and tofu.

Vitamins & Minerals Kids have specific Recommended Daily Allowances

Eating a diet that includes a variety of color will provide kids with vitamins and minerals so important for growth and development. Kids with restrictive eating behavior, poor eating habits, or who are just finicky may fall short on some nutrients.
