SummerFilled with Play
Come Out to Play
It all starts with play. Riding skateboards and climbing trees. Hopscotch and hula hoops. Saturday morning soccer games. Building a killer ramp from a few scraps of wood. Opening the door and letting kids go be kids!
All kinds of good things happen when boys and girls come out to play. They get smarter and stronger and more confident. They learn how to be a good teammate—and a good sport.
CLIF Kid is dedicated to getting kids outside to play, and to providing the good snacks they need to grow strong minds and bodies. Our Summer Play Challenges give you all kinds of fun ideas for outdoor activities.
Summer is the perfect time for new adventures, after all. So here’s to courage and curiosity. To skinned knees and tall tales. To riding bikes with friends until the fireflies glow. Here’s to the power of play!
Summer Play Challenges
Go Wild and Grow Wild
There’s something magical about gardening. It has the power to draw indoor kids outdoors and help super busy bees slow down.
Play Tourist in Your Own City
There is so much to discover outside your own front door. Get out of your routine and out of your neighborhood this summer and check out the local sites that people come from far and wide to see.
Organize a Scavenger Hunt
No matter where you are, at home or on vacation, a good scavenger hunt will keep your kids entertained for hours. Keep it simple for kids who are just learning to read, or send older kids on a hunt through the whole neighborhood!
Take the Kids Along for the Ride
One of the most fun parts of parenting is watching your kids catch the bug for doing something you love to do, too. Ride along with CLIF Bar athlete Eric Porter as he shares his love of mountain biking with his kids.
Create an Adventure Bucket List
Your kids are full of ideas about what they want to do this summer. Ask them to make a list of their outdoor adventure plans—and then check them off together!
Chalk It Up
As long as you have a supply of sidewalk chalk, you’ve got hours of entertainment (and a good bit of colorful dust) on your hands. Chalk it up to serious summertime fun.
