Halloween Town in the Northeast

We’ve all heard of recycling CLIF Bar wrappers, but creating them into clothing? Now, that’s a new one. Read on to find out about the Halloween adventures of the Clif Fairy and a few of her friends… When working with kids, you just never know what to expect. It’s like a roller coaster ride: fun, sometimes a little scary but you always come away with a smile on your face and some good laughs. The Boston Crew rolled out for the Boston Medical Center’s Halloween Town festival this past weekend, which is just a huge mass of sights, frights,…

Winter’s Just Around the Corner…

As I was riding my bike in Sonoma County yesterday in sunny, 80 degree weather, winter was likely the farthest thing from my mind. Well, OK; maybe I thought of winter for a few seconds after the ride as I was putting the hurt on a tasty vanilla shake from the Sequoia burger shack in Sebastopol. Other than that, though, no real winter thoughts. To my surprise and delight, however, when I opened up my inbox this morning, I found this little nugget of video winterness courtesy of Jenn Berg, TCB pro free skier extraordinaire. Seeing all the cool winter…

Gary’s Adventure in the Dolomites: Day 9

Gary has spent the last eight days cycling around the Dolomites with his good friend, Gregg; up and over mountains in snow, rain, wind and...even a bit of sun. It's been a white-road adventure from day one—just the way Gary likes it. Read on for the final leg of their journey. Enjoy. DAY NINE Clear, cool, windy… Did I say cool? I meant cold. Today, we started off in 4 degrees Celsius (that’s 39.2 degrees Fahrenheit). We meandered around Trento, working our way to the best road out of town. We weren’t used to any town this size thus far…

Gary’s Adventure in the Dolomites: Day 8

The second-to-last day of Gary's white-road adventure in the Dolomites...the cycling continues. DAY EIGHT A beautiful, clear crisp morning; the views are spectacular. After saying goodbye to Mario and a couple of his buddies with cool felt hats, see photo, we headed up to finish the Passo Croce Dominii. The top of Passo Croce Dominii What a climb; we were even happier finding Mario’s Albergo after another nearly 3,000 feet of climbing. It would have been real touch and go getting to the other side to Bagolino the nearest town. Passo Croce Dominii On the way down the Croce, we…

Gary’s Adventure in the Dolomites: Day 7

Another mountain pass and another white-road adventure, straight from Gary himself. The cycling adventure continues... DAY SEVEN 30 something! Not my age and not the television series from the 80s. Rather, “30 something” was the temperature we woke up to. Not only that, it was snowing on the Passo Stelvio which was to be our first pass of the day as our plan was to head north, over the Stelvio, skirt around the boarder of Switzerland and cross into Austria. And yet another bike trail... These trips are always such a lesson in adaptability. And with no support vehicles we…
