Danny
Pace Team Leader
Just reading about Danny’s running exploits is enough to make us tired! A well known and nationally ranked ultramarathoner, Danny has been the victor of 100K, 50 mile, 24 hour and 48 hour races. He is a regular competitor in the Withlacoochee series of ultra runs, and has also competed in the grueling, and selective, Western States 100. Still more astounding, he has racked up 216 miles—on no sleep—at a 48 hour continuous race run in France, on an indoor track that is 6 LAPS TO THE MILE. His training? An average of 28 miles a day for over a month!
All this ultra running has paid off in Danny’s 26.2 mile marathon exploits: he holds a 2:49:57 PR, but recently ran a 2:54:29 at Boston—on a bum hamstring! He pulled off a magnificent feat several years back, pacing the 4:00 group at the St. George Marathon to an on-time finish on Saturday, flying home an hour after the race, and pacing a 3:40 group to an on-time finish—the next day—at the Twin Cities Marathon.
Danny is returning to the pace team for his tenth season, and is looking forward to helping and inspiring even more runners on the marathon course. And by the way—he does appear to have some spare time, in which he helps coordinate activities for the Gulf Coast runners.
