Following Kenny Souza on RAAM, Day 2

go kenny! The alarm rings at 5 A.M. It’s Monday morning, I wake up, pack some clothes, camera gear and head into work to take care of a few last details before heading to the airport. I’m flying to Phoenix to intercept Kenny Souza on day two of his Race Across America (RAAM).

From Phoenix, I drive to Flagstaff and arrive just after Kenny checks in to the time station. He’s just ridden almost 500 miles straight. I bang on the door of the motor home with my camera around my neck and ask if I can

RAAM--Arizona update

This just in! Paul, our CLIF BAR photographer and Team LUNA director, is traveling alongside Kenny for the first few days of RAAM. He sent off this email this morning:

Hey everyone,
Kenny’s doing AWESOME!!!

In Race Across America, which began Sunday morning, Kenny is sitting in a comfortable third place. All the leaders are staying pretty close together being within an hour of each other after riding for about 24 hours and over 400 miles. Looks like a lead group of 5 is riding

In the afternoon, upon waking from the lengthy and restful

RAAM: Preparations

Kenny S., one of our field managers, has decided to ride his bike across the United States in the 25th annual Race Across America (RAAM). He leaves from Oceanside, CA, this Sunday, and rides as fast and as far as he can every day, until he reaches the finish line all the way in Atlantic City, NJ. Phew.
Gretchen, Kenny’s crew chief, will be with him every stroke of the way. Here’s a look at her preparations for the big day:

Ladies and Gentleman…Chris McCormack

Macca speaks!Wow, it’s been a busy week. Actually, the madness kicked into gear over a week ago; I was in the office over Memorial Day weekend trying to balance prepping for my own races and prepping the Media Center for "An Evening with Macca."

Turned out that all that prepping was well worth it. Chris McCormack is a class act. He did a mighty fine job entertaining the crowd at last Thursday’s event with stories ranging from how he got his start in the sport of triathlon, to faux pas he’s made
