On the Road with Solitaire Episode IV: Low Tide

In this episode, the Sweetgrass family lands in Las Lenas, Argentina, for several weeks of fending off women, beef, and various strains of the common cold in hopes of actually making some turns on snow. Settle in with some steak and Malbec, and join the team behind-the-scenes of their upcoming film Solitaire.

Boat is Always Half Full

You might recall seeing a phenomenal video posted here not long ago (and all over the internet for that matter) featuring Team Clif Bar surfer Pete Devries (as created by Jeremy Koreski).

All photo credit to Jeremy Koreski.

Or perhaps you caught a glimpse of this month's cover of Surfer Magazine, featuring none other than Pete again. In case you missed both of those, look no further; for he's gone out and posted up again. Not unlike the Pete we've come to know and love, this

Chris Davenport Drops the Lhotse Face

This just in from Team CLIF Bar athlete Chris Davenport... Namaste and greetings everyone! We are finally back down in Basecamp after our second rotation on the mountain. We did six nights at Camp II, which is at 21,400 feet and had excellent weather while we were up there acclimatizing. The great thing about Camp II is that you are right up under the Southwest Face and below the Lhotse Face as well, so the views are stunning and you really feel as if you are high on the mountain. While we were there Neal and I had some time to do some skiing, and we took full advantage. While both of us are here as guides for our great client Ephi, we of course brought along our skis "just in case." Well the mountain gods smiled upon us up there, and we were able to make a descent of the Lhotse Face from just above camp III. This ski descent has only been accomplished a handful of times before, and the conditions that the mountain gave us were truly incredible. If I were to rank it in my lifetime resume of ski descents, it would definitely make the top three, joining perhaps the Messner Couloir on Denali and the East Face of the Matterhorn near the top of the list.

Specialized ALLRIDE Academy Killing Vampires, Plus First Pro Gravity Tour Stop

AllRide filmer Gunnar Oliphant gives a firsthand account of the vampire action and shares a freakishly fun video of the experience.

The first Pro GRT Race of the season was in Port Angeles, Washington and I was lucky enough to go to it with the Specialized AllRide Academy. With AllRide, we always try to come up with creative videos that are different from the standard bike edits to try to set the program apart from others. When we arrived in Port Angeles we saw a Twilight store

Santa Cruz Syndicate Kicks Off the Season in Style

Team Clif Bar sponsored Santa Cruz Syndicate was firing on all cylinders this weekend as Steve Peat, Greg Minnaar and Josh Bryceland all finished in the top ten and took top team honors at the UCI World Cup season opener in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. With his hometown oneLife crew and family watching, Minnaar dug deep and pedaled his brains out to attempt a repeat of his win in PMB two years ago, but Aaron Gwin just edged him out for the win by a quarter of a second. After warming the hotseat for 25 riders, Peat had a big grin on his face when his time of 4:15.44 held up for 5th place, finally back on the podium and making this his 51st downhill world cup podium. Minnaar's 2nd place was his 49 downhill world cup podium, making 100 total appearances for these two! Bryceland showed that his winter training has gone well with a 10th place finish on this physically demanding course and raced clipped in for the first time.
