Mighty Fine Tree Skiing

OK, I know what you are going to say – “if I hear one more thing about that Josh Daiek kid, I am going to lose it!”    What?  Two posts in two weeks is too much?  Well, sorry.

Now that Josh has some downtime after crushing the Freeskiing World Tour, he edited this short piece from some fine Washington state tree skiing.  Since no one here at the office really got any epic pow days, we are clinging to the last shreds of winter any way we can - and this video satisfies!  Enjoy Josh

Josh Daiek Wins Overall at Freeskiing World Tour!

Team CLIF skier Josh Daiek won the final round of the Subaru Freeskiing Word Tour on his home mountain - Kirkwood near Lake Tahoe, CA.  This was the last stop of a seven mountain tour and Josh used his local knowledge to move from second place overall to the title on the final day.  The event was held on the "forbidden Cirque" - a run in Kirkwood's backcountry that is normally closed.  The low snow fall this year left lots of rock features exposed and forced the athletes to rethink

Ellie Greenwood Scores Back to Back Wins at Chuckanut 50K

This past Saturday in Bellingham, WA the 20th Anniversary edition of the Chuckanut 50K was run in cold conditions with a mix of light snow and some rain.  Team Montrail and Team Clif runner Ellie Greenwood showed good early season form to take the win and to take another 3 minutes or so off her course record, set in last year’s victory.

Serow!

Team Clif skier Miles Clark recently returned from a trip to Japan and has been sharing all kinds of great videos and images with us.  The latest video is our favorite because Miles takes a step back from the epic pow to teach us a bit about the Japanese Serow, a sort of goat sort of antelope native to the mountainous woodlands of Japan's Honshu province.  Did you know the Serow is a solitary animal, occasionally gathering in couples?  Did you know the Serow marks its territory by
