The alarm rings at 5 A.M. It’s Monday morning, I wake up, pack some clothes, camera gear and head into work to take care of a few last details before heading to the airport. I’m flying to Phoenix to intercept Kenny Souza on day two of his Race Across America (RAAM).

Your ears will never be the same… Paul (of the many beautiful Mavericks photos) and Dylan (a.k.a. Le Sensation American will be podcasting their adventures from the Tour of California all next week.

The race starts on Sunday, with a Prologue in San Francisco. It’s a 1.9-mile individual time trial that’s going to be decided over the short and steep 250’ hill at the Coit Tower finish. The following seven stages will take the riders over 600 miles from the Bay Area all the way down to

Dave Zabriskie is a local transplant, originally from SLC.  My teammate Jeff raced with Dave when Dave was just a wee little tyke coming up through the ranks of the SLC bike racing scene.  A lot of folks recognized that Dave had some very legit cycling skills even back then.
