There are very few people that get after it in the backcountry like Team CLIF BAR member John Morrison. Though now up to ears in powder again, here is a first-hand account from some of his January excursions into the great Eastern Sierra.

January's run of high pressure in California has made it a month to remember for back country skiing and ski mountaineering in the High Sierra. Clear skies and stable weather made tagging peaks and skiing amazing lines a breeze. The incredible powder conditions early in the month were replaced by equally enjoyable corn snow conditions.
