Hailing from the buzzing metropolis of Jefferson, NC (pop. 1422), Annette Bednosky is one of only a handful of TCB athletes who can call Appalachia home. The ultra-runner excels at long-distance trail races and counts victories at the Burning River 100 and USATF 100 Mile National Trail Championships among her extensive palmarès. But, when it comes to racing, Annette doesn’t discriminate. Technical, muddy descents? Loves ‘em. 24-hour races? Check. Short, fast trail runs? Yep. Road races? Sometimes. As for training…any old trail will do. Like her students at Ashe County High School always say, “You know you are in Ashe County when you see Ms. Bednosky running!”
