Bobby McMullen
Mountain Biking
We're not sure if there is a more inspiring rider in the world than Bobby McMullen. Bobby is a blind athlete who has survived two double organ transplants and an infinte amount of other "lesser" injuries like broken femurs and the likes;) Few love to ride and live with as much passion as Bobby. Period!
He rides and races all over the world thanks to the support of his sponsors, his guides, and his close knit community. He says, "Every day I get up I am thankful for the life I have and every day gives me the opportunity to push limits beyond limits, and show what we are capable of!"
Bobby has six sisters, and learned to ride on one of their bikes, a girls' frame with no top tube. He recalls trying to keep it upright and rolling down the small hill in front of his folks' place and hitting the drive way and coming off the bike hard.
As an adult rider, he was once in Canada readying to drop in with Wade Simmons who had never guided a blind rider. Bobby remembers, "After a long dissertation by me to Wayne on how to guide a blind guy, I asked Wayne if he was okay. After a long pause, Wayne, in his easygoing, thick Canadian drawl answered: 'Yeah Bobby, I'm gonna be fine, eh? I don't know how you're going to be eh, but I'm gonna be fine!'"

What's he listening to? Foo Fighters, Van Halen (w/Hagar only!), Rolling Stones, Drop Kick Murphy's...Bobby says, " ... anything that get's me tapping my foot...cause I am one hell of a dancer...REALLY!"

"Life is made up of moments, good moments, bad moments, good jokes, bad jokes, laughter, tears, success and failures but all are moments that make up who we are. Celebrate each of your moments and live each moment like it was the last thing you will do in this life. When you look back, you will be proud of who you are." ~ Bobby McMullen
