Cedar Wright

Climbing

Cedar says his first big send was at five years old. It was a thirty-foot chain link fence. His mom's advice that day still rings in his ears. "Just don't climb up there," she said, "unless you think you can get back down." A lot has happened since that fateful day in 1980!

Today Cedar is a world-class adventure climber, travel addict, writer, filmmaker, and musician. He has spent the past ten years traveling the world establishing difficult and sometimes dangerous first ascents in Africa, Pakistan, Australia, Nepal and elsewhere. He loves to share his wild adventures with the world through his award-winning video blog Vertical Carnival. Cedar has starred in critically acclaimed climbing films, including "First Ascent" and "The Sharp End," and his exploits have appeared in Outside Magazine and National Geographic.

While Cedar is "living the dream" of a jet-set sponsored rock climber, he remains a friendly, approachable, and generally happy-go-lucky person who loves the climbing community and the lifestyle it has provided him.

What's he listening to: Arcade Fire, The Limousines, LCD Soundsystem, Cee-Lo, Phoenix, Passion Pit, Tupac, Doctor Octagon, Bob Marley, Beethoven
