Chris Davenport

Ski Mountaineer

Aspen's Chris Davenport is widely regarded as one of the most progressive and accomplished big mountain skiers of his generation. Chris' career (37 years skiing) has been as diverse as it has been successful. In the competitive landscape Chris won two World Freeskiing Championships, an ESPN Winter X medal, many Powder Magazine Reader's Poll awards, the 24 Hours of Aspen, and was a fixture on the podium of the Freeride World Tour.

In the the media landscape Chris has been featured in over 35 feature ski films from production houses like Warren Miller Entertainment and Matchstick Productions, and has also produced two of his own films, "Ski the 14ers" and "Australis: An Antarctic Ski Odyssey". One thing that we love about Chris is that he's not only a great skier, but he's a great guy and a multi talented one at that. Chris has written two highly acclaimed coffee-table books; "Ski the 14ers" and "Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America" and is a consistent fixture in ski-industry publications like Powder Magazine, Skiing, and Freeskier.

Chris works closely with companies like Spyder and Kastle on design and development projects and has his own ski collection with Kastle (the FX line) and clothing collection with Spyder (The White Spyder Collection) But in Chris' own words it is his skiing he is most proud of: "Of all my achievements, it's the beautiful mountains I've been able to visit, climb, and ski that I am really the most proud of. Lines like the Messner Couloir on Denali, the East Face of the Matterhorn, the West Face of the Eiger, the SE ridge of Baruntse, the Lhotse Face of Everest, and all 54 Colorado 14,000' peaks in a year are what inspire me and keep me motivated and passionate about the sport." Chris spends much of the year guiding clients on ski and climbing trips around the world, and when he's not traveling he guides his three boys at home in Aspen with the help of his wife Jessica.

What's in the musical rotation? After a 10 year hiatus he's on a live Phish kick at the moment.

What's on the nightstand? Go figure, Chris is way into mountaineering literature, especially the old stuff.
