Donny Roth

Donny Roth, or El Segundo as he is know in South America, grew up ski racing and discovered ski mountaineering 18 years ago and has been immersed in touring and guiding ever since. Donny lives in Boulder, Colorado, but spends 8 months of the year skiing all over the world. When he is "home", he is more likely to be sporting climbing or cycling shoes. Donny focuses on human-powered skiing - every year aiming to use less fossil fuels and mechanical assistance, and still ski more vertical feet than ever before. Donny does not necessarily aim for the biggest peaks – location and aesthetics are more important to him and technical challenges increase the reward. For him, it is about exploration and adventure more than perfect powder skiing. Although, that certainly makes him smile as well.
