Eddie Hill

Upstate New York’s Eddie Hill has been racing since the early 80’s, starting with BMX, then switching to mountain and road bikes before finally settling on triathlon in the mid-90’s. Eddie is the kind of person who embraces the entire athletic experience, and enjoys nothing more than training, racing and socializing within the triathlon community.

Eddie is also the co-founder of the Monarch Adventure Race at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, a “sprint” race which serves as a perfect introduction to adventure racing. Participants include faculty, students and staff of the university and community members, and proceeds from this annual event are given to various local youth organizations. Eddie’s special claim to fame, however, is being the smelliest triathlete on the east coast – at least for one race. Early on in his racing career, Eddie misjudged a turn during a duathlon bike leg and crashed into a swamp, completely submerging himself and his bike, rendering him putrid. Years later, he is still recognized by many at races as the smelliest rider around.
