Reef McIntosh

With a name like Reef, a life in the surf seems preordained. But that's not the only element of Reef's surfing life that seems recognizable. He has the talk down, too. When asked who he is (a tricky question, to be sure), he says, "A humble appreciative excited young stud." And what's he all about? "Shredding the gnar." Well said in Reef's world!

But what we might not know about the Hanalei, Kauai resident is that he loves a clean house and gets tons of practice while keeping the Quick team in line as the house manager on the North Shore during Pipe season. He was once known as the guy who drove a jet-ski over a friend's head at Teahupoo in Tahiti. In more recent news though, you can check Reef out on the November 2011 cover of Transworld Surf, where he's doing what he's all about—getting barreled—and thankfully not driving. He describes that as one of the best waves of his life. Since then, Reef has had more than few great waves. He's right in the mix for the 2012 Wave of the Winter Award and just earned a check for 30K large by winning the Da Hui Backdoor Shootout. Not too shabby!
