Jonathan Albon overcomes life’s obstacles full-time. He has conquered some of the fiercest and most treacherous obstacle course races across the world, setting his mark as a Spartan Race World Champion, a two-time OCR World Champion, and a Skyrace champion. Now residing in Bergen, Norway, Jon frequently shuttles between the biggest races in North America and Europe and brings with him tremendous love and humility to the sport. When he’s not speeding along 40km+ through a dense, mountainous forest filled with exposed rock faces, he’s spending time with his wife and relaxing.
Jonathon Albon By The Numbers
The Skyrace I did last year was my greatest achievement and the best racing experience I’ve had. The course was 44km with a 4400m climb over a three mountains. I did the first two mountains and was about 5th and coming off that second mountain, I moved up into second. Then I managed to go up that mountain 9 minutes quicker than the person in first and went downhill about 7 minutes quicker than him and he was defending Ultra Skyrunning World Champion.
I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it wasn’t for my older brother. I was always sort of a nervous kid who didn’t want to get out and do too much or take on challenges, but my brother was the complete opposite. I feel like that transferred onto me a little bit — I wouldn’t have taken on the challenge of my first obstacle race if it wasn’t for his personality rubbing off on me.
