"Every time I see a new mountain range, it's different from the last. The more places I go, the more places I realize I have yet to see."
Professional ski mountaineer Hilaree O’Neill has climbed and skied some of the biggest, most difficult peaks in the world.. She’s the first woman to have climbed two 8,000-meter peaks in under 24 hours (Lhotse and Everest) and has multiple first scents on Baffin Islands. O’Neill grew up skiing at Steven’s Pass in Washington State, but fell in love with ski mountaineering while spending six winters based out of Chamonix, France. She recently has been directing her athleticism and fearlessness into a new challenge…Half and Full IronMan-distance triathlons.
Hilary O'Neill By The Numbers
Reaching Makalu basecamp with my 6- and 8-year-old boys. It took ten days and a lot of hard work. They were total troopers hiking in the rain, enduring leeches and mosquitoes, sleeping in a new place every night, and eating weird foods, but they did it and they were proud of themselves and I was so proud of them.
In My Bag:
Because I live in Colorado where the weather changes every five minutes, I always have a small down puffy and a TNF Flyweight Hoodie. I keep a small external battery to recharge my phone, a small Adventure Med Kit, Citrus and Vanilla CLIF SHOT Energy Gels, salt tabs and sunscreen.
