Stephanie Howe has a passion for movement, science and nourishment that has catapulted her to the top of the ultra-running world. The former collegiate Nordic skier and cross-country runner honed her trail-running skills while getting her Master’s in Exercise Physiology at Montana State University. While pursuing her doctorate in Nutrition and Exercise Science at Oregon State University, Howe won her first ever attempt at the famed Western States 100, and currently holds several ultra course records and podium finishes at some of the world’s most famous ultras. When she’s not logging ridiculous miles on the trails outside Bend, Ore., she can be found coaching and helping others reach their nutrition and racing goals.

When did you start running?
I used to hate running. My parents took me to my first cross country practice in 7th grade and I showed up in flip flops so I wouldn't have to run. Thankfully I got over my aversion to running as I got older.
What is your favorite food?
I love croissants, coffee, and red wine; which pairs well with running all summer in French Alps. I typically spend most of the summer in Chamonix. I'm still trying to brush up on my French :)
