Supporting Our Neighbors in the Northern California Fires - Letter from CEO Kevin Cleary
As a North Bay native, I am deeply saddened by the devastation caused by the wildfires in Northern California. My heart goes out to our families, friends and neighbors whose lives have been changed by this tragedy. The sheer scale and speed of the destruction has been hard to fathom, and we are all grateful for the heroic work of the first responders who stepped in immediately to protect our communities.
The road to recovery is going to be long and difficult, but there are already people and organizations coming together to plan for the future.
To aid the rebuilding efforts, Clif Bar is making a commitment of $1 million through financial and product donations to affected communities. We plan to keep sending bars to evacuees and firefighters across the region through organizations like the Redwood Empire Food Bank in Santa Rosa, and will identify nonprofits, local farms, and farm workers most in need of financial support in the months ahead.
At Clif Bar, giving back has always been about people helping people. Without hesitation, the first question asked around the office was – what can I do? So beyond cash and product, we’re also committing our people power. Our CLIF CORPS company volunteers have pledged 2080 hours, the equivalent of one full time working person for a year, to help on the ground once the area is safe. I’ve never been more proud to be a part of the Clif Family.
In times like these, we’re reminded of the power of community. Like so many others in the Bay Area, we’re grieving for what’s been lost, but committed to the work ahead.
Whether it’s our food, our planet, or our relationships with our people - we’re on a mission to do one thing and one thing only - make it good.
